  It was not rape…he didn’t go that far with it. “Molestation” would probably be the term…and I don’t think age is taken into consideration when both parties are roughly the same age. =/

  It also says that if you wear two different materials in the same piece of clothing, you have to sacrafice your best sheep or you’ll go to hell. XD Just an observation…;)
  
  But seriously, no matter how much you disagree your friend is going to believe what he wants to…it’s not up to you or anyone else to decide…if you’d like you can voice your opinion and explain why you feel that way, but don’t expect him to just automatically adopt YOUR religious views…everyone has to find their own path. We can’t choose for others. =]

  To answer your question: NO, it is NOT normal. Biologically, we are designed to WANT to live and remain unharmed. It’s in our nature to strive to be healthy. So when some of us start injuring ourselves on purpose, that’s a sign that something is NOT right in our head. If you looked at a dog who suddenly started biting and clawing himself, you would think, “What the hell is wrong with this animal?!”…not “Oh, that’s completely normal, poor doggy is just depressed…”
  
  Now, that being said, I am in no way saying you are wrong for doing it. I just thought it was kind of silly. XD
  
  The addiction factor is entirely emotional…yes, there is a such thing as “emotional addiction”, although it’s more commonly referred to as “emotional dependancy”. Once you get used to reacting to large amounts of anxiety or emotional trauma in this way, your mind is afraid that, if you stop, you will collapse/have a mental breakdown. While you CAN stop if you really want to, it’s just as hard to shake as any phsyical addiction.
  
  So while I applaud those who have successfully kicked the habit, I definitely understand those who are not able to, and my heart goes out to you. However, I don’t think it’s fair to yourself or those you love to not try…do you really want to have to explain to your kids or S/O in 15+ years why you have scars all over your arms? =/

  These kind of situations vary…there is no absolute answer here.
  
  I wouldn’t “pine” after him–definitely do what you can to move on. While there is nothing wrong with having that hope, don’t give it too much power–it will eat you alive…
  
  A year and a half is a long time, so yes, it’s going to take a while for you to move past this. Be patient with yourself…some say it takes as long as the relationship lasted to be completely over it. Give yourself time, try not to focus on love and relationships at the moment…spend time with your friends, pick up some new hobbies, ect.
