I don’t lie. I don’t hide things. My mom always say if she wants an honest opinion about something she knows the most honesty she’ll get is from me lol. You need to let the past go and give yourself permission to be happy, to start new.

No problem :) I’m sorry. I guess all you can do is realize that it wasn’t your fault, that you didn’t deserve what you went through at all. And to forgive yourself and those who hurt you and give yourself the power to start new, to start fresh. Letting the past affect the present only screws things up for you even more. You deserve to live, you deserve to have a good life. Give yourself that. Tell yourself, I DESERVE to be happy.

And btw I’m not like that. I wouldn’t say you can talk to me and then stop talking to you! I’d never do that to anyone!

Did you ever think that maybe the reason you can’t get rid of the guilt is because you never said anything before? how old are you? do you live with your mom still? has it changed any if you do? Maybe you should confront your mother???

btw being a parent would be tough i am sure and even harder if they are having problems with their husband/wife but that doesn’t mean you blame your child for soemthing you have NOTHING to do with. Also, I guess I probably didn’t help my parents, when I had to have a lung operation two months into their problems!

Anyways, I have insecurity and trust issues, I have no self esteem whatsoever and I have anxiety/panic attacks all stemming from that one moment. Anyways, I asked candp for help and she asked me questions about my past and made me realize that it wasn’t my fault and that I had to let go and forgive myself and them and start new. Do you carry guilt?

Yeah. My parents when I was 15 I believe started having problems and I was in the middle. It went on for a year, lots of yelling and fighting…totally unlike my parents! Anyways, I kept silent that whole year and by the end of the year I just lost it. I was so angry with them and hurt from what they put me through. they told me that they could get past their problems if it weren’t for me. and it’s now 8 (9?) years later and it’s still affecting me…..

I know, I’m just running around like crazy trying to get stuff done, still this is my last week at work so I have a few weeks to get things organise.

Must have been. But you’re very right, parents do what they feel is right for the child, at the same time though religious parents probably aren’t aware of how they are setting their very own children up for harsh times but they love you nonetheless.
I had an embarrassment phase initially, especially knowing how I used to talk with my friends about it with a holier than thou attitude. Ugh. I think all christians turned atheist/agnostic have that at some point. But to be honest I’m not embarrassed about it now. If anything I’m proud that I ‘used’ to be one. We’re very lucky.

Wow, so yours has been a long journey then? Sounds like you and I have come from very different walks of life. Was yours a case of controlling parents, even where you lived maybe?
My parents reacted harshly to my ‘coming out’ as a non-christian. My mum was all ‘but you’re going to go to hell and I don’t want my baby to be there while I’m in heaven!” … *sigh* … but I have a good relationship with my parents. They probably think that I will get out of this rebellious phase some time or rather. Silly silly. ;) I live with my mum just now, but only for weeks until I move. I get the occasional comment here and there, about how we should go to church etc but on the whole my family are good about it.
I can’t even recall the exact moment I stopped believing. It was a gradual progression. But I basically saw that my beliefs were much of a result of my upbringing and when I attempted to re-establish my faith and came up with nothing, well, I guess that’s when I stopped believing. And then I saw the deciet, deception, corruption, how damaging religion is and was, and am just plain angry and resentful about it all now.
I’m sorry about your parents though.

Omg like, the refreshing thing sounds so totally cool! :P Shame really because I’m just getting into this site when it seems to be in a state of decay. Just my luck ;)

As for the religious people, I just sort of come out of a stage of feeling sorry for them to complete and utter rage everytime I see/hear one. I just hate how condescending most of them are. I know it’s useless fighting them, but it makes me feel good so I do it anyway.
Yeah I managed to escape by some miracle. Was 18 when I did, I’m 19 now. Maybe the angriness subsides with time but I doubt mine ever will.

I was just thinking the same thing….

The enigma of the universe is to great to comprehend. One can find various theory´s but one cannot prove anything.. The human race will be long gone before the universe “expires”….

I wonder why one has to thin about such things. It would be better to think about things that goes on in the everyday life. I think i might have to much time on my hands. I´ve been at home for 9 months. Many thoughts wander in my mind.

So here´s the question… What´s beyond the universe? It could not just spawn out of nothing.. All this mass had to come from somewhere…
