  Well it is up to you if you want to stay friends with her or not. Sometimes people don’t know what they are doing is hurting others. I say speak up! Say what is on your mind. If you don’t they will never know what you are thinking and cannot change their destructive behaviour.
  
  If you do speak up and tell her that you dont like that she bosses you around about what you wear, and she doesnt seem to care, then she isn’t really your friend and you should likely go your seperate ways.
  If she does care that it bothers you and makes an effort to be nicer, then try looking on the bright side of her comments. To her, telling you “What not to wear” is likely because that is what she is into and wants to connect with you that way. Just tell her to ease up on the comments. And to maybe give you suggestions, instead of negative feedback, on what to wear if she is so concerned about your clothing.
  
  I think I know where you are comming from. To me, love and happiness (interior) is more important than clothing, nice cars, etc. (exterior). Right now I am dating a guy that is very into looks and brand name clothing, nice stuff. I would way rather spend $20 on an outfit from Value Village or Wal-mart than over $100 at some fancy mall store. Haha.
  
  I am trying to take the positive from it, see what I can learn from him, since most of the world is into brand names fancy shoes and money. If you do go this route, try not to get caught up, money isn’t everything. Make sure you stick to your personal morals and values, because you are the one you have to live with the rest of your life.

  Im glad im not the only one! Yes I have communicated it to him. Several times over the years. Now I am trying to do exatly that, let him learn by his own mistakes. It just sucks when his mistakes affect me. When I knew they could have been prevented. Aaarrgg!! is right! Sometimes I feel like I learn from his mistakes more than he does…. :S

  I would say don’t feed the fire. It was wrong of you to take the blame, because that leaves no evidence for the police to deal with. My suggestion would be to LEAVE HIM! At the same time I can understand the difficulty of that action, but belive IT IS POSSIBLE!! Another option would be to take notes of the verbal abuse, any possibloe physical abuse, take pictures of bruises, wounds, anything! I do not recommend fighting back, because you are physically ill. I would recommend reading up on self-confidence/same situation literature anywhere you can possibly find. Possibly find some support group with people who have been in and got out of your situation.

  I have the same problem. I think i got it from my mom, but then I started focusing on the bad things about people becuase I was upset and frustrated. THat didnt get me anywhere. Now I am just trying to go with the flow.
