Interview with Greg Rico, Founder, “MyGarageAndYardSale.Comâ€
The Premiere Garage and Yard Sale Locator

Greg Rico is the first to admit it.I love stuff, he says.I really, really, love stuff! And would you look at this. Rico enthusiastically holds up an old leather Navy flight jacket.I got this for $20.00 at a garage sale. Is that a deal or what?
Rico has been combing Sacramento and Bay Area garage sales since he can remember. In fact two years ago when he and a friend were patrolling neighborhoods in search of treasures, the idea of My Garage and Yard Sale popped into his head. Imagine,he thought. If one could cut down on the random driving time and just be able to drive directly to the item theyve been dreaming of.†So Rico went on a self journey of garage sale œenlightenment.
I discovered several things, said the founder. One, sometimes where the seller advertises, a local newspaper, is just too plain local. Surprisingly a lot of people I asked, including myself, are willing to drive 100 miles if in fact they know that what they want is waiting there. Secondly, from a buyers standpoint the price saver is time. Out of say six hours spent shopping a weekend of garage sales, two or three hours of that time is spent canvassing local papers and local neighborhoods hoping you might spot something. Thats a lot of wasted time. Thirdly if you âre a seller, the average newspaper ad is going to cost you anywhere between $15.00 and $60.00. Now thats a lot of money, especially if there is a misprint, or you cant list many of your items. And by the way, you would be surprised just how much incorrect information can show up in an ad.
Rico put on his thinking cap and came up with: My Garage and Yard Sale The Premiere Garage and Yard Sale Locator.I wanted to provide a service that would make garage sale shopping convenient for the buyer, profitable for the seller and hey, while I was at it, make a buck for myself! And what better tool than an internet service to offer a quicker, more effective way to provide seller and buyer what they wanted from the get-go a sale!
Rico, a Sacramento businessman and the happily married father of four said he has: No grand schemes of taking over the world via garage and yard sales. I just want to make a few people happy, including myself. With the help of innovative web designer Shawn Britton (www. smallbizwebsites.net), Rico was able to take a dream and make it a reality.Hey, you know that great advice of following your dreams. Well, thats just what Im doing.
The service will begin locally and eventually provide garage sale information for anywhere within the United States. And its all so easy, said Rico. “For the buyer, just the typing in of the zip code offers garage sale listings within a 50 to 100 mile radius. Once an item is located, there is a phone number and address provided, and driving directions. For the seller, a $9.00 fee will provide you with frankly a lot of great stuff. (Theres that stuff word again.) First of all it allows you to list the items in your garage sale. To do so, either use our preformatted list to help guide you, or create your own list. Next MyGarageAndYardSale.Com provides you with the opportunity to download photos in jpeg format of some of your must-have garage sale items. Thirdly, you can update your sale items in real time. Sell an item, take it off your list and its gone, or add an item. Updates really are instantaneous. A sellers site remains listed for one week. A seller also has the option to list their site 24 hours in advance.
If you’re looking for the certain something that you just haven’t been able to find in Grandpa Runion annual garage extravaganza, then give our site a whirl. You wont be disappointed….Wink!
P.S., Though Ricos company leaves bartering up to the buyer, he recommends buyer and seller still have at it.Hey, thats half the fun!
