• (1 vote) If the planet was bigger would lifeforms be bigger?
  

  Quite simply it is a question of physics, not genetics. As long as the life-forms are carbon-based, and let’s face it, if they aren’t the whole rule book goes out the window and who the hell knows then, then there is a maximum size they can reach before the gravity of their home world crushes their skeleton and/or internal organs. If you take the largest animal on earth, the blue whale, and place it on land, it’s own weight would suffocate it. It’s the extra support from the water that allows it to grow to that size. The point is as long as the planet they’re on has gravity there will be a cap to the size a carbon-based lifeform would grow. Where that cap is depends on the mass of the planet. Also, there are other limiting factors. Assuming the life-forms needed an atmosphere to survive, the planet would need a minimal gravitational force to hold said atmosphere. Assuming the life-forms needed an atmosphere that would protect them from the cosmic radiation, they would need something more than the token atmosphere of Mars for example. Of course, who knows whether alien life forms would need an atmosphere or protection from cosmic radiation.
  
  Ultimately the whole idea of these life-forms being alien makes anything we could say just conjecture. Maybe an alien life form feeds off the cosmic radiation like plants on earth produce sugars from the sun’s radiation. Maybe they live just under the surface of an atmosphereless planet protecting them from the harsh realities of cold space. And you asked if these lifeforms would be “bigger” than us. Well, maybe a species of alien grass covering a planet with extremely high gravity are all connected in their root structure and thus considered one life form thus making them much much much bigger than anything living on earth. Here, let’s wipe away the assumption that they are carbon-based lifeforms. Maybe they are light or photon based lifeforms. Now, believe it or not, photons do exert a small amount of gravitation force, that’s why black holes can trap light, however no planet of any mass short of forming a singularity (black hole) could limit the size these lifeforms could grow. The ridiculously low mass of these life-forms would severely limit the gravitational effect the planet had on them. In fact, there would be little reason for such life forms to stay on a planet. There are an infinite number of factors that could effect the size and form of alien life, and, other than for sheer amusement it is pointless trying predict such things.

  This question is pointless. Help.com doesn’t NEED to lead anywhere. It already functions as a source of help for hundreds, thousands of individuals right now. This is about helping the individual one at a time. If you want to change the world, go recycle or vote or something.
