I just realized I typed “were” instead “where” in my original reply. I also said, “its placement indicates that it modifies the tiger” where I meant “…modifies the photographer.” Sorry for any confusion that may have caused anyone.

You might be able to get the files using a data cable if you have one or can get one for your phone. I only have experience in this area with Sprint, so I can only help if you have Sprint or possibly another CDMA carrier such as Verizon.
2007-02-18 13:18:49 on I have a Cultural Report to do for college, and I was wondering if anyone could send me some ideas.
That’s a great idea too, possibly more enlightening than mine. It really depends on the focus of the class.

Quite obviously, the person from whom to get more details about this assignment would be your professor. However, having completed a somewhat similar assignment, I will offer the following advice:
Pick a culture, any culture, so long as it is not your own. Your own culture would probably acceptable if it is not closely related to the dominant culture in which you live. having chosen a culture, research it using whatever sources you are allowed. Wikipedia is a great first reference if you are allowed to use it. If not, it may still be a good starting place for finding other more reputable sources. Note important facts about this other culture, focusing especially on those that differ from your own or the dominant culture in your area. Things such as music, literature, religion, social rituals, industry, may apply. While differences are likely more the point of this assignment, you should also note the similarities that arise, but I would devote less time for these. If your space allotment is large, you may want to delve into both in great detail. It is hard to be more specific, given your vague question, but, assuming you have no other details on the assignment, I hope I have helped to some degree.

Try HijackThis. (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php) Download it, run it, and look for BHO (Browser Helper Object) with the name you gave. If you find it, check it and remove it. If you need better instructions, let me know and I’ll reboot into Windows.
2006-12-14 11:54:03 on Marijuana, should it be legal or not?
I agree with C.M.
“How many people die a year in car accidents due to being high?”
None. Source: http://www.drugwarfacts.org/causes.htm This website documents the primary source of the information as US Drug Abuse Warning Network records.
For a more thorough examination of alleged marijuana deaths, see here ( http://www.briancbennett.com/charts/d… ). The author of the website admits that the source data may be in error, making his estimate of 35 deaths/100 million higher than reality.

THC can only be detected “for no less than 2 years after last use” for heavy, chronic users. ( http://www.cleartest.com/testinfo/len… ). An occasional user will usually have undetectable THC levels in the urine in a few days or so ( http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp… ).

On one of QE’s posts:
Your source for the side effects of marijuana use is the website of a drug addiction treatment center. From the second paragraph, “Marijuana side effects from an overdose include toxic psychosis. . . .” THC is nontoxic. The following is from a report by the Nova Institute:
Despite these observed effects, the overall physical human toxicity of Cannabis is low. Human fatalities following acute Cannabis intoxication have not been reported. Chronic heavy marijuana use is also not related to mortality (Sidney et al. 1997). Long-term heavy marijuana users did not show any abnormal health features that distinguished them from the population as a whole (Gruber et al. 1997).
Strong side effects are rare, even with high THC doses. The median lethal dose (LD50) for rats is in the range of 800 to 1900 mg/kg (Thompson et al. 1973). No toxic deaths were observed in experiments of rhesus monkeys with an acute oral application of 9000 mg/kg (Thompson et al. 1973). For illustration purposes: 9000 mg/kg THC in a man weighing 70 kg corresponds to the consumption of 630 grams THC or 3 kg of high-percentage Cannabis resin (hashish), or 15 kg of marijuana of a medium quality.
Even a long-term high-dosing regimen of THC is tolerated relatively well. This was suggested by the example of rats that ingested 50 mg/kg THC every day for two years (Chan et al. 1996). At the end of the two-year period a mean of 45% of the controls and 70% of the dosed animals had survived. The higher survival in the THC group was primarily due to a decreased incidence of cancer.
Notice that last part. Significantly more animals exposed to high doses of THC over a long period of time survived than did control animals. The full report is available online ( http://www.naihc.org/hemp_information… ).
Your source for drug statistics is an agency of the US government, arguably the strongest anti-drug advocate in the world. All of the sources for that agency’s report are also US government sources. I’m not saying the statistics are wrong. I just wanted to point that out. The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center has found that trends in marijuana use can be correlated with perceived danger and price ( http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/… ).

For further reading, I recommend AlterNet’s Drug Reporter ( http://www.alternet.org/drugreporter/ ), especially the article “How Legalizing Drugs Will End the Violence.”
For a glimpse of the human cost of the
United States’ war on drugs, see Drug War Rant’s “Drug War Victims” ( http://blogs.salon.com/0002762/storie… ).
For me, it’s about freedom. If you’re not hurting anyone but yourself, you should be allowed to do it. Marijuana falls under this category, except for the part about hurting yourself. It’s also about practicality . We spend millions of dollars locking people up who have hurt no one. It makes no sense.
I could go on, but I have a final exam for which to study. I look forward to your responses and hope that this can remain what is has largely been thus far, a reasoned discussion about marijuana effects and policy.

2006-12-11 16:57:20 on What are the following: incorrect comma placement,
Incorrect comma placement: a comma used were it shouldn’t be.
Wrong verb tense: As in “I went home” where you want “I am going home.” Problems are more likely to arise with tenses like “have been going” and “had been going.” (I don’t remember the names of those tenses.)
Misplaced Modifier: a modifying word or clause is placed in a sentence so that it modifies a word or phrase other than what is intended. I.e. “Having killed its prey, the photographer left the tiger alone.” In this sentence, “having killed its prey” is obviously meant to refer to the tiger, but its placement indicates that it modifies the tiger.
Wrong word: Are you serious? “The stranger gave the woman a nice complement.” (”Complement” should be “compliment.”)
Comma splice: A comma is used where a period or semicolon should be used.
Pronoun and antecedent number problem: “The man handed in their paper.” (”his paper” would be correct.)
S-V agreement: I is going to the play. (Should be “I am”)
The next one: You need a comma after an introductory adverbial clause (or any other introductory clause).
Fragment: “I went to the.”
Run-on: “I went to the store and bought some things and then I went to the other store and killed a man, and then I listened to Pink Floyd and I love candy.”
Don’t do that.
Wrong case. . . subject:I’m pretty sure this is just a capitalization error.
Incorrect plural form: Something like “mooses” or “childrens” or “childs” or “mans” or “womans.” Pretty much any word that’s pluralized like German or that doesn’t change in the plural form can be easily mispluralized (not a word) by someone not familiar with the correct term.
2006-12-06 13:27:22 on If you died right now and when you saw God He asked you, “Why should I let you into my Heaven?
If I’m a landlord, I’m entitled to kick my poor tenants out into the street on Christmas morning too. That doesn’t mean I should, or that it’s right that I should. WWJD, right? God’s early years don’t seem to reflect this philosophy.
2006-12-06 13:04:25 on If you died right now and when you saw God He asked you, “Why should I let you into my Heaven?
I’m just making the point that God, should He exist, is far from perfect, having committed or abetted deeds “in His infinite wisdom” that are morally reprehensible. This, referring both to the many, many ways in which Christianity (and Judaism, some time ago) has been used to justify all manner of horrible things, from stoning “sinners” to exterminating indigenous peoples. My comment was saying that if God is eligible to live in Heaven, I should be too. Sorry, I really should let these threads be. I just can’t help it.
