Doing what Pharriesan suggested could lead to all sorts of problems, not the least of which is that you would also risk hurting yet ANOTHER person—the woman you PRETEND to have “feelings” for.   I don’t really like it either, but you never know… she may need to see that playing games with people is a bad thing by having a differnt perspective in this situation. I do agree with everything you say, however. Sometimes people need to see how they behave by having someone show them.

  Parents - the world’s most imperfect being. I had a crappy pair for parents - just try your best to realize that in a very small amount of time you’ll be out on your own and can treat yourself the way you feel you need to be treated. Unfortunately we can’t always depend on those who SHOULD treat us the way we feel they should. My parents always thought of themselves first, they left us without food, shoes, clothes, hygenic neccessities, guidance, etc. Rather than hating my life I found a way to learn from my experiences and force myself to start depending on me. Love you parents because they’re your parents, but know life will not always be this way unless you allow it later in your adult life. Set some goals and start looking inward for your security and stability. I now have a child and pregnant with my second, I can tell you that I remember all the heartache and bs my parents put me through and that I won’t do the same to my children. Some people can’t let go of their “independence” and can’t see that they are wrecking their own child due to selfishness. I could go on forever… I can’t tell you anything other than to trust in yourself and look to YOUR future.

  Wow if she had any respect for you she wouldn’t put you through this. By your accounts it seems that she isn’t 100% commited to the relationship you have with her and is keeping the other guy around just in case. Being friends is fine but you may want to think about letting her go so she can have her just in case rather than stringing you both along. Don’t let someone use you as a doormat, throw out an ultimatum, if she wants your relationship to work she’ll accept it.
