These are the teachings of the Catholic Church on the End Times that must be believed by all the Faithful.
* The Resurrection of the Dead. The teachings of the Catholic Church teach the actual resurrection of all flesh in their own bodies (including the damned), not merely a spiritual resurrection. This teaching is affirmed in both the Nicene Creed and the Apostles Creed.
* The General Judgment. After the resurrection of all flesh, there will follow the universal judgment. Christ will sit upon the throne of judgment and render to each man according to his works (Matthew 16:27).
* The Destruction of the World. The world will be destroyed at the command of Our Divine Lord Jesus Christ. The fulfillment of this prophecy will be supernatural and not as a result of atomic wars, or geological or astronomical disturbances.
* The Reign of the Church Victorious. The faithful of the Church will live and reign with Christ forever. The devils and evil men will be damned forever without reprieve.
Girl of Grace, here is the Catholic teaching in a nutshell. Notice that the word Church is capitalized, meaning not only the Catholic church but the whole of the body of people Christ has drawn to himself. Just clearing that up so people don’t think Catholics beleive that they are the only people who will go to heaven…etc…
1038 The resurrection of all the dead, “of both the just and the unjust,” will precede the Last Judgment. This will be “the hour when all who are in the tombs will hear [the Son of man’s] voice and come forth, those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.” Then Christ will come “in his glory, and all the angels with him. . . . Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at the left. . . . And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
Basically, the Catholic Church says that at the end, Christ will come back to judge those who are living and dead.
Those who have died, both in heaven and in hell will receive perfected, glorified bodies as Christ has which sucks for those in Hell for the pain they will suffer.
When we die, we are generally judged individually, but at the end, everyone will be judged totally.
At least that is the best understanding I have of it. I will try to find more information for you Girl of Grace.
At first I started looking up answers for all of these kids asking for stuff, and then I realized, they can do it. All they need is to be pointed in the right direction, aka a website or the back of their textbook.
