  I’m thinking you should say “No, I’m not interested in getting involved right now.” Hanging out with someone isn’t mean, letting them think you’re interested in them is. Dating, by its nature, implies interest. Otherwise it would be “hanging out” not dating. There is dating disguised as hanging out for those who have trouble putting themselves on the spot, but there shouldn’t be hanging out disguised as dating for those who are bored and using others as entertainment.

  Be honest about it. Say ” I think I like you, and I’m not expecting anything, but I’d like to get to know you better.”
  
  You can only be teased or picked on for something you’re ashamed of. Why is liking him something to be embarrassed about? Admit you feel awkward. Don’t feel like you have to solve all the issues yourself, a relationship is a partnership, even one that isn’t romantic. He can carry a conversation too.

  lol….a lot of that sounds odd. But the “want to smash their nose into their brain” sounds like what I was taught. Apparently its natural to pull your punch, so this is really a mental excercise so that you hit them with all your worth…there is no actual brain pieces on your hand. I agree with the previous post. The best way to not get attacked is to run screaming from the scene.

  I’m glad I could help. keep in mind though, that the first uni i attended had originally rejected me. I literally took my rejection slip in hand, and asked.
  “Why?” I got a person who was chairman of such and such, asked him what I could do to get in, and was able to reapply for the following semester. I can honestly say that was my fav uni of the three I’ve attended to date. Lol…you could say I’ve some experience with the application process. Followup is golden. It shows you’ve got determination and are willing to put in effort. And if you’re willing to do that much to get in, imagine what you’d do when they let you in.

  I actually know exactly how you feel. I’ve gone to an insane number of schools, and to be honest, the easiest thing I’ve found is that you just have to talk about things that apply in holland to your dutch friends, and talk about international things with your friends overseas. Maybe through internet or im. When I first moved, I spent a lot of time on facebook and instant messenger, after a while it got lessand less as I got more and more comfortable with people I met here. To be honest though, highschool was harder. When I got to uni, with more people, it got easier. Here in uni are mostly people from different countries too.
