Mini-Profile

Retired from a family owned roofing company circa 1957-2005.
Katrina, September 2005, closed our roofing business down. Our office space, inside of the top floor of a Metairie office building, was unusable due to flood and hurricane
damage. Personally, we lost six houses, rentals, and one commercial auto body and repair shop due to flood damage; a lifetime of savings. Since 2005, we have restored all rentals and sold three of the eight properties that were running well before Katrina. The house sales helped us repair the flood-damaged ones.
Our pets were boarded for three months. A local Veterinarian helped us out by taking care of 29 of our pet cats for three months. We did not return to New Orleans until drinking water and sewer services were restored.
When we were permitted, by the local and government officials, to return, we generated our own electricity, used to power our RV purchased and used in Columbiums until we could return home; this generated power, 24/7 was very expensive-about $800 per month.
I thank God for the good things that came out of this disaster.
