  How are you today? I know how hard the past few days must have been for you…the whole world just turned upside down on you. There are so many decisions for you to make. It is your first act as a parent to make decisions that no longer effect just you. You have been on my mind and I just wanted to let you know someone out there ,in this big ole’ world, had you on their mind. Take care Sweetie!!! I’m here anytime you want to chat :)

  He really is a jerk you know…but, you all ready knew that or you wouldn’t be the one picking up all the pieces. The situation at hand is that you did the right thing :)
  and now your life has a new direction. Things will be different for you but better. My oops! baby turned out to be twins! Don’t let me scare you! But, it was a they, and I have been blessed everyday of my life because of them ever since. Rebeka is in college out of state and Rachel is studying locally at a Tech school. To think if I had choose to abort I would have ended two lives instead of one. My family was not at first happy for me…naturally they were disappointed. But, long story short, we ALL just kept getting up every morning, dusting ourselves off , and lived another day, each day got easier and then by Jan 26th of 1990 we had ourselves a huge celebration and come Jan 16 of this year we will celebrate again! The birthdays of “my girls”.
  Hang in there. pregnancy is a gift not a curse. You will experience lots of different emotions shame, anger , disappointment, happiness, joy and laughter…just keep the heart beat going…you will make it through….believe me before too long no one will remember the past….just keep looking ahead =D Love, momoffivedaughters!

• when my daughter sucks her thumb she automatically twirls her hair what makes her do that?
  

  Hi Bridjitandnic! My daughter that is 26 years old used to do that when she was a baby, too. She would suck her middle finger and ring finger together with her right hand and twirl that hair with her left hand. She mostly did this when she was sleepy. I believed it gave her comfort to help her relax prior to going to sleep. She is grown now, married and a nurse. She stopped sucking her fingers by age 5. But last November she and I were on a trip together and she was getting tired of driving so we took turns and she leaned her head against the passenger window and with her left hand she reached up and began to twirl her hair and then she feel asleep. It made me smile. For a split second it was like traveling back in time : She was 3 and I was well…lots younger :) Enjoy your daughter…they will grow up faster than you’d ever imagine.

  You would think that I am always happy but that is not always the case. I definitely understand where you are coming from. I have felt and still feel in many ways “alone” and like you, I have not had that many close friends in my life and I have grown away from my friends I meet while I was in college, keeping in touch via emails every now and then.

  I’d often wonder why I would see so many people with such close friends always around them and calling them all the time.
  
  Why is that not me? I’m friendly and attractive or so I’d thought.
  
  I used to be shy in high school and would never say much to people if I didn’t already know them. Until I was in my early twenties, I’d wait for people to approach me and would find out later people thought I was a aloof for not saying much. It took me awhile to gain self confidence. Then a guy I was dating who I am actually married to now told me I needed to work on my people skills.
  
  Me? People skills? What is that?
  
  At first I took offense and then I listened. I started to actively try to make conversation with anyone I came into contact with. People at the grocery store, talking to the checkout girl, people at the gas station pumping gas, people waiting in line with me, people walking by me. I made eye contact and smiled and I even said hello to everyone I saw. That was the first step, being more friendly and having conversations with complete strangers I might never see ever again.
  
  Then I started complimenting people about things I was actually thinking but I never said, if I liked their shoes, their glasses, their haircut, the color of their eyes (male or female), and I found that not only did it make them feel good, it made me feel good. I feel that I am rambling right now.
  
  Anyways, after a while, if I liked someone I was talking to, I would ask to exchange numbers, we should go grab lunch sometime I would love to hear more about you trip and see your pictures, ect. This took some time for me.
  
  Also, maybe you could start doing more things by yourself like if you think you are overweight, you should join a gym or start taking yoga or kick boxing classes. Those are great places to meet people - men or even better women. Just take care of yourself.
  
  Join a weight loss support group, take healthy cooking classes, anything to help get you off your feet. I’ve found that exercise is a natural anti-depressant. I actually feel better about myself after doing it.
  
  Don’t give up, you’re not alone really, you just haven’t found the right people to spend your time with. So get out there and just enjoy living. I have to make an effort everyday and everyone is busy with many different things, so don’t judge someone if they turn you down once for lunch, just try again another time. Just keep a smile on your face and that smile will say, I’m happy and approachable. Let me know if this helps. I hope it lifts your spirits that a complete stranger who doesn’t even know you cares.   YES! You hit the nail on the head! I under went the same thing…I never understood the whole “You have to be a friend to have a friend” saying. I was always friendly and talkative. But, it was always a one sided conversation…Someone would ask me , “how are you to day” and I would go on and on about me…but, never ask “AND YOU?” So, after years and years of only coming across as someone who only thought of my self first (I guess)…I found that everyone else seemed to have great relationships and friends and went out with co-workers, blaa…blaa…blaa..but, I didn’t. Why? And it all boiled down to now knowing the ART of Conversaton. I simply didn’t realize the importance of the OPEN ENDED QUESTION, EMPATHY, and LISTENING.
