  Thanks JellyBelly.. He actually has a group of friends - all girls. (girls seem to like him) but seems to gravitate towards messed up kids.. drugs, truant from school etc.
  I don’t think that anyone is going to be able to resolve my issues with my son on this site.. I just really needed to rant, as I feel so beat up most of the time..
  It is really hard to know if your child is ADHD until he is in grade 5 or so. This is when the organizational skills and independant learning start coming into play. Believe me ADHD is a VERY TRUE disability and those that say it isn’t don’t know what they are speaking of.
  I wouldn’t worry too much at this stage, but just keep all of the possiblities in the back of your mind. i believe that the sooner diagnosed the better.. If I had gotten my son on a med in grade 5 or 6 I think he would be better off now. At the time, we wanted to try everything but medication, and now he is 14 and refuses to take it, so I think we missed a very important window. Best of luck to you.

  I am glad that you were able to find help without medication. What exactly did your parents do to help you?
  I also believe that it depends on the severity of the ADHD.

  Signmycast… it isn’t me that has ADHD . It is my son. We have seen many psychiatrists and psychologists and have tried every ADHD med on the market.. The side effects are too much to handle for him.. I am glad that you were able to get help and get the adhd under control. :)

  Yes- I think that he has a combination of disorders.. ADHD and also Obsessive Compulsive. I believe that he also has an anxiety disorder….
  The first signs for my son were when he was in pre-school.. inability to interact properly with other kids.. never invited to birthday parties, always bullied or percieved himself to be bullied. Angry tantrums were frequent and had the need to always be in control. Discipline or consequences rarely works.. lives totatly in the moment and is unable to think about the consequences of his own actions. Is so impulsive that he has drilled holes in my hardwood floors, made bombs out of gasoline, breaks my things (things that are special to me) every time he gets angry, threatens me regularly with breaking things etc. I have called the police a number of times to help me..
  Just curious, Dr. Ralph… why do you think I have it made???????
