  I just wanted to say that the person to whom you responded to had to shed a tear just like i did when I saw your response to them. I am in her shoes as well and I understand how she is feeling. I have looked at some of the things people have posted and I find them sort of mean. You at least offered to help. I have nothing to give because I have nothing myself. But I did not think you should not be reconized for your offer to help her. It was nice. You know Gods blessing …

• Are ther any services in Virginia that are doing any kind of Christmas assistance programs?
  

  In Virginia I know finding assistance is hard. I quit looking because it just was not going to happen. But, I will pray that you do better than I did. i hope you and your family get the Christmas help you need. For my kids this year it is just not a reality. But I am not bitter. I do the best I can and I have great kids who should not have to understand that they will not have a christmas this year but they have been told and have accepted it. but, the tears they cried and mine are hard. This is a cold world at times….

  I can understand and appreciate her situation because I have been there… got better and have been there again. This year has been hard on a lot of people and I find some of the comments left here for this person mean and somewhat heartless. I work.. am a single parent.. I raise 2 children that are good in school despite their learning disabilities… I barely make ends meet…. I am not on welfare because I am trying not to have to go that route. If you have never been in a welfare office then you don’t understand how demeaning it can be. If you have never had to stand in a line in a grocery store and had to pay for your food with food stamps and see how other people look at you and how crappy it makes you feel then don’t judge. I have been there and I struggle every day. I too had to explain to my kids who get good grades, who do what they are told when told, who I love more than anything that Christmas this year is not going to happen and I have cried every day since. I know they are greatful for what they have and they know that we have things like computers because there was a time when I was doing ok with money. Toni… I don’t have anything to offer you because I don’t have anything myself. But I do want you to know that I understand where you are coming from and I hope you can find someone to help you. I wish I could because I know how you are feeling and I know how much it hurts. Just keep your head up and as long as you know you are doing the best you can then let the negative comments roll off your shoulders. TRust me, I am in the big world all by myself and it can be a hard lonely place.
