Hi happy New Year too!
This is the first time I have logged in in about 5 months :P.
Anyways, from what I have been reading, there is a category called “emerging adulthood”. This includes people who are not adolescents, don’t really feel like adults, and don’t really know what to do with their life yet. It is perfectly normal to not be sure of a career path. I just changed my mind again for what I want to become. It is unreasonable for society to expect you to choose a path in life in such a short period of time.
If you cannot take any classes at the moment, try working, volunteering or travelling. Opportunities will help you develop yourself and figure out what you want to do with your life. Learning is a lifelong process, and classes only teach you certain types of knowledge. There is so much out there to explore.
Go easy on yourself, and let the ideas flow.

I’m doing well at the moment :). I’m developing more ideas for what I want to do in the future, finding a purpose for studying and enjoying my classes because of it.

I gess we’ve both been busy :P

Well I decided to drop the science course I was doing and even if I wanted to continue into the second year my teacher said she could not have supported the decision ‘cause I completely failed it , but I am kind of regretful because I keep thinking I could have done better if I tried just a little more and when I hear people saying how they are going to re-do that science course I feel like maybe I should give it another go … but then again my heart was never into it and I do find it really difficult.

And that’s kinda sad hearing about the person who did those years of studying but cant really find a job he enjoys =[ I hope he finds something he enjoys soon 

And to be honest at the moment I am completely lost =/
I have to start applying for university but I have no idea as what I should do .
My grades aren’t good at all and I feel like I have to make a choise right now :/
I enjoy things to do with history , art n English but I never did an English course and I really wish I had but my teachers here wont allow it :( and im far too late to enter a night college etc

I thought that if I could have a year off to catch up on other things I might be more ready to go into uni etc but I just don’t know anymore

Anyways hun I want to thank you soooooooo much for helping me n stuff!I know it cant be easy dealing with me n im truly sorry for going on n on n being a hopelss cause :/
but really it means alot ot me !

hi! now I’m sorry for not replying earlier. I’ve been very busy too :P

It sounds typical of your parents to want you to study science. Here is advice based on experience:
If you are having difficulty in highschool with science courses, you will probably survive first year. However, by second year it becomes very difficult. You will have 400-500 page textbooks, you will have 4 hour labs (1 -2 a semester), you will have lectures for each class and tutorials for each class. The information must be understood and memorized note by note, molecule by molecule and equation by equation. If your heart is not into sciences, you will become disappointed.

Also, a bachelors of science will only be useful if you want an engineering degree, or a low-paying lab position. You must have a masters or PhD for most other sciences to land a decent job.

With an arts degree, you can work for the government, for organizations and business. It is useful for anything involving working with people. Although, if you do go in the arts direction, work experience is very important.

As for psych, some of the most successful investors recommend a psychology degree.

Therefore, ignore your parents and follow your passion. I know of one person who is older than your parents, has a PhD in psych, but regrets all of those years of studying. His parents insisted that he go into psychology, but he could not find a job with it that he enjoyed.

It can take a while to find what you are truly interested in. Try out new directions, and take courses which are useful. This is the time to listen to yourself.

Well the things that i find i have an interest in are : History ..ive always loved doing things relating to that as
well as doing English and a lil bit of psychology.

Finding a career or course related to any one of them is hard and my parents want me to study within the
science field..which i do have an interest in but have struggled with throughout school and college.

I also have been told that although i have interests in these subjects i wont be able to go anywhere with them
and so i find it hard to know what im meant to do or what id like to do

im going to be getting my results next week =[ and im not looking forwards to the grades i might be getting
..although i wonder what i could do next if my grades were extremely poor as i feel like i want to make another go
of things

anyways how r you? u having a good summer? you sound like you really enjoy your financings :)

It sounds as if you haven’t discovered your passion yet. Try out a variety of courses. Learn from the ones that you don’t do well in, and realize that they may not interest you. Try new things whenever you can, and you will be lead in a new direction.

At the moment I’m taking a completely new direction, a course in finances. Now that I look back into my past, I have always enjoyed finances, so I am now rekindling the interest to help direct me. So far, I have tried fine arts, sciences, arts, psychology and now I’m heading into finances. I think my future will involve a combination of all four directions.

What interested you in the past? What did you like to do when you were young? You may find answers there.

and i know i have screwed up , my grades were either really poor or fails , and my parents werent happy especially my mum

i try to get myself motivated but then alot of issues surrounding myself and my family sort of come in the way and stop me , or most of the time im just stopping myself

and i know this will sound awful but sometimes with the way i think , i feel i coudnt care about doing anything in life :/
but then at other times i want to make a difference , to do something worthwhile

i dont know how to get into the habit of trying and not giving up ? its been a while that ive been like this

im studying sciences and history ;)

A place where my friend works was short-staffed, so they asked her to bring a friend, and then I was hired.
Even if you screw up your final year in university, you can still go back later to apply for a masters as a mature student. You do have chances.

If you are finding it difficult to study, then think about what motivates you. Are there other events in your life, attitudes or beliefs that you have which are hindering your efforts?

It isn’t necessarily about working hard, but studying smart. Take breaks. Often time away from studying allow your brain to process the information up to 8 hrs (from what is known from psych studies).

If you are having difficulty remembering certain info, make it more distinctive. For example, if you saw a car shaped like a hippo driving down your street, you would have a better chance at remembering the license plate, than if it was a normal car.

To give you hope, where I attend university, there are many difficult classes. During the times when I procrastinated, I studied the night before for finals, and I still did decently well. Know that you will do well, and find the joy in studying again :).

ad il try doing what u mentioned ..participating and enjoy learning for the sake of learning but im not sure il have another chance for the subjects i really needed a decent grade in :/..cause i ddint revise but im really hoping i will get another chance and yeh i s’pose il hae to work HARD for the next time :)

Don’t worry if you’re not doing well, just enjoy learning for the sake of learning. Have fun participating in class by asking questions. It will help to keep you awake :). My exams were finished 2 months ago. I didn’t do quite as well as I liked, but I’ll just improve for next time :). As for the job, I was hired without applying :P.
