  Well ask colleagues then or ask people who would be bluntly honest with you (i.e. some true friends) to watch you while at work and tell what’s wrong. You must get this information. Otherwise you would continue repeating a mistake (if the problem is really in you).

  I tried unplugging the mouse and the scroll doesn’t work; but the whole matter is that the scroll works fine in most applications except Opera.

  Win XP SP2, keep it regularly updated. The mouse has a scroll wheel and it works in all applications.
