so last time i was on before i took my year leave, the last admin or mod was going to make me a mod. Is there any chance of that happining with you aboard. Would love mod of chat and topisc on site.

I’m happy help.com exists and I can read posts and leave replies.

I never use chat, the refresh doesn’t bother me, etc.

I have no idea what your job is like or what other responsibilities you have. Perhaps if you shared with us your situation we could figure out a way to help.

1- throw the google map thingy it’s a it slows the website.

2- delete the avatar history, allow everybody to upload only one pic that will help with the space consumption ( can do that by giving the pic of the avatar as the id of the user hence everytime they upload a new pic it will overwrite…)

3- fix the avatar i know it doesnt need more than 30 min :P

4- delete all posts that are older than 2 years or 1 … this should extremely help with the space and speed of the website and stuff

Wow. So your the new Admin. Welcome. I’ve heard much about you and I’ve only been back for 3 days. I can tell you its not all good stuff - but that’s not what I’m here for.

I’m back and willing to Mod. I still have all my abilities, although I don’t have access too the Mod-site. I have been Moding for the last 3 days I’ve been back. I was originally appointed by Jeff, left due to life issues, and then brought back by KT.

I would like to get to work with you on making this a better place. Right now it seems like this place has been left to die and many people are worried. I have a few suggestions:

1, Avatars.
2, Bring the old chat back. It is not working like this right now. People don’t stay banned and the current Mods are being bullied.
3, Bring back live update.

I know your bosses aren’t giving you much resources and nobody wants to take this site on. That it is a black pimple on the side of cNet, but it could be the shinning example. The whole community (what’s left of it) are willing to help you.

Please come back and show some love.

Please, please, please, fix the avatars. They are quite a few new members, and sometimes it’s hard to recognized them from all the other same letters.

Also the live update would be awesome. Having to refresh many times in a minute sucks.

Hello, I would like to know if you ever get a chance to come on and see what is going on here at (Help). I lot of complaints are surfacing and you seem to be either 1) too busy to care, 2) lack the knowledge on how to fix/handle the situations, 3) wish you never agreed to be an administrator or 4) unable to cope. Can you please fix the few problems that the community is asking you to fix before they get out of hand and become too perplexed. If you need help there are ppl here that are willing to lend a hand. Please do not ignore this.

yo helpyyyy!!!! Hey, gettin really sick of having to refresh the page. I know everyone else is too, but I think you could delete some things that don’t work already to make the site go faster, not the ones that DO work. Delete the search for posts feature, or maybe the maps like nante said. And the tagged notices (at least that’s what I think they are) since those aren’t working. Also, I made a post about what features would be cool on help. A lot of people replied, and even though it changed subject a few times, there are some great ideas on there. here’s the post

the instant replies was very usefull, refreshing the page after every reply takes up so much time it dosent even make a diffrence if the sites a little faster…

Hello, welcome to help.com. Nice to have a new admin around :)
I have a small suggestion, as you asked for some in the new admin post. How about having like some “templates” or “sticky notes”. These would be accessible maybe from the FAQ possibly? And would have posts that aren’t possible to comment on. One would be “internet safety” and somebody on help.com has made a post with every suicide hotline from hundreds of countries. That would make a great one too. Its been suggested before, so I just thought i’d mention it incase you found it useful. Also i’m sure your not short of help but I’m open to any requests for help, I don’t mind. :)

I was just looking at some recent posts and their seems to be an increasing number of people having problems with internet security, and this is my idea, I would suggest you make a helpbot and advertise Symantec which is great internet security, that way you are helping others stay safe but you are also making a profit for each post created that helpbot replies in!

helpmod i would like to complain about the amount of moderators available, the current moderators are overworked with all the trolls of this site, this is why i recommend you hire some more modeators, other users and i feel help.com is loseing control and we feel that a rise in moderators could bring help.com to normaility.

Hi, thanks for the modding, I’m getting on when I can. Removed a rather foul link tonight, it shocked even me. I have looked in the new room, it looks good, it seems far better. I would like to complain about one of your chat moderators who goes but the name of sophie.
She would appear to be rather careless and doesn’t think or check before she does it.
She banned me from the meebo chat because I was ’spamming’. When I asked another of your moderators, Tangledupinblue, what had happened she told me she would ask Sophie about it.
Apparently she ‘misread’ the chat logs and banned me. I think this rather careless of her. Perhaps you can do something about this because I find it rather shocking that such a thing has happen.

hello helpmod, i heard you were recruiting new mods, well id like to nominate a user, penguin boy brian (i think is his current name) he is always friendly towards users and his replys are very memorable. he is also good friends with some mods on here, :)

I think you should make Bogdan http://help.com/user/239820-bogdan a mod, as he lives in Australia, he’s online when a lot of the other mods aren’t, thus covering a time (usually about 4am to 9am or a bit later, GMT-6 hours) when most mods aren’t online, and there are alot of trolls. He’s also fair, has been on help for 5 months and knows it well, and is very responsible and trustworthy, ask anyone.

So that’s it, I guess. :)
