Hello, I am a 28 year old male that has been laid off from General Motors, after only working there for about 8 months as a lower wage new hire. I am now trying to fulfill my dream of flying. I enlisted in the Navy back in 2000, with the plan to attend AOCS, and attain my wings to fly. Sadly, I was disqualified due to astigmatism in my right eye. This was one dream shot down early on in my life.
I have been married for about a year now. The marriage started out great, we both had decent jobs, and the sky was the limit. Since the falling of the economy, our credit card rate has sky rocketed to 27%, and with the companies having no remorse for anyone, we are now stuck, right along with anyone else with a credit card. My wife and I are madly in love, and we will continue to fight this bad time that we are all going through. I am trying to find ways to fund my flight training at Flight Safety International, as they have a very rewarding program that could put me in the right seat as a first officer within a year. This would be outstanding, as I have many friends that already work for the airlines, and as soon as I reach my minimums, I would be good to go. If anyone has any advice or resources to help us get a loan or fund my training, or even someone that owns a plane that lives in the Kansas City area, and would be willing to offer me instruction. I would also be willing to sign a contract with a business that would be willing to pay for my ratings in exchange for me signing a lengthy contract at a low negotiative salary.
