Oh man! It just clicked one day. I used to wonder that exact thing, how people could just “not care” - I used to go to bed at night and think about the most insignificant things I had said and done that day.
And than finally came the last straw. A girl I barley know and that barely knows me called me a “compliant, yes person”. Which if you ask anyone that knows me they would just laugh in your face. I was so bothered by it. Couldn’t stop thinking about how she got me so wrong. And than the cliches kick in “you cant please everyone” “not everyone will like you”. And I asked a friend about it, they asked me the following:
“Why do you care about someone’s opinion of you, if you don’t even respect their opinion in the first place?” The fact is that very little people actually know you. So why are you bothering with worrying about peoples opinions that aren’t even valid because they actually know very little about you. Than the cliches finally made sense. You really cant please everyone, its just not possible so why are you trying so hard?
YOU are the one that has to know who you are. YOU are the one that has to stand by your thoughts and opinions. YOU are the one who decides what is right and wrong for you. No one else can do that, so why let other people drag you down? You’re letting the world win here. There is something like 6.5 million people out there. The chances are at least half of them will hate you. So what are you going to do about it? Sit and die because they don’t like what you have to say?
F*** them. Honestly, just f*** the whole lot of them. Stand your ground, decide things for yourself and stick to your decisions. Everyone has to come to terms with who they are, recognize that everyone is flawed and life will kick you down whenever it gets a chance. Its your life, no one else gets to be you, and no one else has to die as you.
So what do you who do you want to become before you die? That might be a morbid question, I’m not sure.

Its ok to be shy! So many people talk about being shy as a bad thing. Why try to be someone your not, just be yourself. I know - sounds obvious, like an after school episode of full house, but honestlly thats the answer. Once you understand and accept yourself and who you are, you will become confident.

Is it nerves or your just out of practice? I felt the same way when I first started working. SO many new people to make small talk with - I hate small talk. Not to mention I wasnt very good at it. I asked a friend - she reccomended starting with the basics.
What common interests might you have? Where did they go to school? How is their day going? Hey, did you hear that China has been involved in a world wide espionage conspiracy - they have spied on 108 countries and were inflicting on human rights poilicys, how do you feel about that? Did you see Lost last night?
S*** like that. You dont have to be funny, most people arent even actually funny anyway and make people wish they wouldnt try so hard. Dont try and fake being someone else, you’ll just feel uncomfortable and uneasy and it will make you feel worse.
You’ll get the hang of it, just try it out.

I’m going to have to agree with you on all counts. It’s contradictory, insensitive and worrisome.

Hack into the mainframe and make it so no one else can post. Otherwise, deal with it!
