  I work 8 hours a day managing a company, then do record keeping some nights at home for other job maybe 1 hour per night. Classes are wed evening & 2 sats per month with March off. School is 30 miles away, kids are grown & gone, bf lives in UK so we visit on the phone & plan to go to Greece in March. Classes are Counseling Techniques, Drugs Abuse & Origins of Mental Illness. Saturday classes are all day and then some internet chat room participation. I am hoping to hide in my office some afternoons and do some homework - I run the place so no one will yell at me. I will be moving to uk at the end of 2007 and need certifications to be a social worker there.

  12 is one of the in between years. One minute they want to act 21 and be all grown up and independent and the next they will cuddle up with an old baby doll to sleep with! Their hormones are changing hourly and they don’t even understand what is going on. It is menopause in reverse - we give our mother’s the space - we need to give our 12 to 16 year olds the space and understanding to be totally unreasonable. Just make sure you let them know the difference between acceptable and unacceptable behaviour. (Also attach a homing device without them knowing it)

  lol, I think letting the practitioners fight with their managers is probably where it lies right now. Managers are being replaced with CFO types who negotiate contracts with health care funders.
  
  I am hoping to move to UK with addictions certification. Sounds as though we have opposite/same problems. I have worked with mentally ill - chemically addicted homeless people here and also foster families and natural parents. Most of the natural parents were hoping to be reunited with their kids but were dually diagnosed (US term). So I fell into the speciality because of the need. These programs were funded. BUT each little municipality had their own quirky way of getting out of paying for full evaluations and treatments so many times we had to get the child welfare courts to order it. So I sometimes felt like a solicitor.

  I was married before to a man with 2 children and talked a really good game but after we were married I saw that his kids were not the priority he said they were to him. He had a very immature realtionship with them and was jealous of them. He would cancel weekends with the with a few hours notice just because he decided he did not have enough gas to go get them in his car. (We were not poor!!!) His ex had a job as a nurse and worked every other weekend so she would have to get babysitting at a moments notice. I did not know he was doing this. I would have shopped for food and planned the whole weekend and then he would tell me the kids were not coming. I was very upset when I found out what was going on. So, long story short, I have NO problem with this man making his sons his priority. He just needs to know that I need some care and feeding also. Talking would be great but I am not sure how to approach things since I sent him a well thought out letter asking him to leave me alone until he know what he wanted - this was sent because he told me not to wait for him. That he did not know what was in the future. He admitted that he wants me there at the end of his arm when he wants me but he doesn’t want to commit to anything, which is ok - II just do not want to be taken for granted or treated less than an equal in this realtionship. Problem is I know I love him and he loves me and I am not going to be moving on emotionally. I am sure of that.
