Thank you for your support on my post:) Unfortunately, the mods ate me alive, closed my post and the traffic(volume, not members) didn’t support me. If anything it discouraged me, plus my real life friends said “it is what is is”

I moved on to another project, but I’m still around to listen or help if I can:)

These things are tricky and one of the thing that really kills online communities, over time, is that people become very protective about them and about their own positions in them; I’ve experienced this in one of my old online communities (back in the terminal server / ASCII BBS days) before that ultimately keeled over.

There’s probably an argument that says, if you genuinely are in a position to transform this site into something that could help tens of thousands of people then the rights of them superceeds those of the small number of unsupportive pre-existing members.

I don’t blame Danni for closing the post as it was turning into the usual mud slinging match (again, quite typical of online communities that have existed for a certain amount of time) and was never going to u-turn in to something productive (I would note that the main protagonists seemed to be the ones who do it on the majority of threads that they respond to).

Like I say, the rights of the many may outweigh the rights of the few (in terms of the reach of a domain such as help.com) but that’s your decision and I wouldn’t take offense at Danni’s decision to close the post or at people protecting their territory. Just take it as a sign that you need to approach things differently, if you intend to continue.

Keep smiling anyway - that’s what I do. :)

Well, I guess Dani help make my decision by closing my post. They have no idea who or what I am and I have no wish of sharing it. My country spends millions of dollars yearly on not for profit organizations. I was mainly looking to see how many numbers we (help members) would rally around improving the admin side of the site and possibly research adding it’s link to one of our social sites. We have them that offer welfare, housing, educational upgrading, trade training, relocation services and shelter. MY bad.
These sites are not mine, but paid for by MY TAXES.

Instead…lol, they bashed me.

I will continue to help the one or two people here I can:)

That’s exactly what I was trying to get across. Overseeing or managing it. I have other projects and groups I work with and they would get very upset if this site took up too much of my time.

I really thank you for your input and support. This site is what it is. It was my bad thinking it could be more. A letter was sent to CBS and we haven’t gotten a reply. Maybe a good thing. My patience ran out a few posts ago…lol.

It good to hear your supportive words and if there is something I can do for you, let me know:)

The site has had a few …hmmm…members drive the real good people away. I forget that some of these people who sit here all the time are very challenged and I guess I expected more then they’re capable of. My bad.

I’m still in meeting (my regular work), but check in during my breaks. Why? lol…I really don’t know:)

Thank you my friend:) The post has turned around a bit and some have chosen to insult.

I talk differently because I do work for the government and have spent most of my career working with law and lawyers. I’m not a lawyer btw.

I have worked with several social programs and groups in the past and maybe in being cautious I’ve confused some members.

The economics of approaching CBS depends on how many people actually use the site.

I spent hours talking Sam out of his…problem a long time ago and got him to follow me to the chat page were him gained his self esteem and be came a mod (he was 13 yrs old). He just turned 14 years old. It’s fantastic, but how does a young man coach an adult with issues he hasn’t experienced yet out of suicide or leaving his wife?

what I needed was a full page of thousands of members requesting the site not close, so I would have some tangible to bring to my committee rather then a young mod with no education or training slamming me and a troubled girl trying to read the mind of CBS and make false statements as what they may say or think.

I think I’m going to be building some social housing projects, so I may not even have time to pop in.

Later PJ.

Thank you for your offer and I’ll remember it:)

Perfect:) Thank you very much. I’m trying to find time to put more time into this, but man it’s challenging. The weather has turned cool and put me behind in some of my other projects. lol..well I’ll keep going and thanks again PJ:)

Because I’m on the road and travel a lot. I need some one to assist me in researching who the personal contact at CBS or their program director is.

I have to develop a business plan and projections, but if CBS isn’t interested it won’t be fair of me to waste the resources do this when there are so many other groups that need help.

Thanks man for the fantastic words…we have the a lot in common:)
