My dog destroyed someone’s stocking — got into some treats. But other than that, Christmas was nice. I’m gonna write you an email one of these days. Happy new year. :)
Ginseng! Just about the time I think I might never hear from you again, you stop in unexpectedly like this. If you’ve been at this new job for a week or so, I think you’re long overdue for a promotion and a Christmas bonus. I miss you!
The cheese went away for a bit. I was having a little identity crisis! Maybe I asked you this once, but what does “any strange” mean? I assume it’s like asking “what’s new or how’s it going” but I’m curious exactly what it means. All work and no play makes Ginseng a dull girl… but it sounds like you’re still finding time to play. I’ve been working like crazy too. My latest obsession is orienteering… a sport where you run through the woods with a compass and map and find different checkpoints.
Hey Ginseng! How’s your troublemaker housemate shaping up? Did she ever fess up completely about spilling tea on your computer? I can’t believe that! What did she think, you just wouldn’t notice?! Hey, no fair, I don’t have any sisters, much less one that lives in Nice!
Wow! I can’t believe you were back in France and Italy! It seems like so long since I walked the Cinque Terre… can’t believe it was only like five months ago. I’d give anything to be hanging out at the little harbor in Vernazza slurping down some gelato right now. Where did you go in France? Paris? Alps? Riviera? Congrats on your new love interest! Hope you two have lovely time in London! I’m doing spectacular. Been working hard to save up for my next backpacking adventure… probably somewhere in South America. My goal is to do as much traveling as you… haha.
Ginseng! Where have you been?! You think you can just wander off for a month or two and then come parading back here with that cutsie little flower in your hair, acting like everything is fine? Unbelievable. You’re in BIG trouble young lady!!
ENFJ? Three outta four ain’t bad, right? I’m INFJ, ENFJ’s socially inept cousin!
She didn’t like the shoes? I think she should just be thankful to see her wonderful daughter! Thanks, Ginseng, it’s not that I felt forced or anything. I want to open up a little more, I just don’t do it very often.. so sometimes it’s a little awkward for me. Well, I’m outta here — going on a road trip with some friends!! Hope you have a good week!
Yeah, it’s interesting how the mind works. When you are little, you just can’t process stuff like that so you wonder how your mind handled it or if you changed it somehow when you were dealing with it so you could cope.
I guess I don’t really share much about myself — I have trust issues. Do you want to hear something about my childhood?
I understand. I’m happy that you trust me enough to tell me about your mam and dad. I can’t believe she threatened to leave you out of her will! That must have been so devastating and confusing for you.
Hey! You’re still alive. Good luck with the move. I thought of you the other day cause there was a commercial for Pepsi Max and it said “now with ginseng”.
Wow, sounds like an awesome show! Were there lots of people there? Did you hop up and down in your wellies during Knights of Cydonia? :) Did you sing along with Tori Amos during Cornflake Girl? I love that song.
Adventure racing is a team sport - they give you a map and you have to navigate to different checkpoints. There are different sections. You usually travel by foot, mountain bike and kayak. The scenery is spectacular! Some races have mystery challenges. For this race we had to swim out to a raft and retrieve a golf ball. It’s really fun! It’s kinda like going to an Irish music festival in the rain.
Hey! Be nice to your nanny! No, I hadn’t heard about these allegations against “The Cranberry Lady” as you call her. Say it ain’t so! This is very upsetting. :[ The Cranberry Lady is sweet. I always liked her. I won’t believe! She’s my second favorite Irish singer!!
To answer your question, I play mostly Cranberries songs. Seriously, though, I do play an acoustic version of Zombie that’s kinda fun, although I can’t do that thing where she goes “zoooombie eh eh eh oh oh oh oh oh aaaaoooohhh la la laaaaaaaaaoooooooooooh”. As for writing, I sometimes make up songs and ad-lib words while playing. I always intend to go back later and re-writing the words, but I rarely do because that would be work and I do it just for fun.
Your profile says you love singing but I guess that is an understatement. Wow. That is really cool. I only know of two Irish singers off the top of my head… the one from the Cranberries and Sinead O’Conner. Now I know three, but you are my favorite. I think the one left the Cranberries so maybe you should replace her.
I play acoustic guitar. I’d like to do it but I don’t really like being the center of attention. If I get nervous, I start playing too fast and my voice starts to sound constrained. Guess I’ll have to keep practicing like you said and see how it goes! What kind of live performing have you done?
Hey! That’s great. Sounds like you’re making a speedy recovery. I’m good. Think I’m finally over my post-trip depression. “Any strange?” I haven’t heard that one before. I’m kinda excited because a few of my friends have a band and they asked if I wanted to open for them some time. It’d just be a small setting, but I’ve never played live at all so not sure what to do.
Yeah, that’s understandable since you guys were together for 16 months and you probably have lots of great memories together from college and stuff. In time you will make all kinds of wonderful new memories but I’m sure that’s no consolation right now.
Getting that first job out of college can be tough because they always want at least 2 years of experience, but how are you supposed to get the experience if you can’t get your foot in the door! It’s a cruel game! Tell them there’s a cheese on the internet who is willing to vouch for you. What kinds of jobs are you applying for?
Love is so confusing. It’s hard enough trying to figure out how you feel about someone else, whether it is real or not, much less trying to figure out how they feel about you. Nice that you can still be friends. I’m sure he will still miss you even though you’re not his girlfriend. How’s your job search going?
Hi. Had awesome trip. Covered a lot of ground. Saw lots of pigeons, train stations, cathedrals, mountains, pizzerias and sculptures of naked men. Nice to sleep in a bed last night. Will write something about it on that post when I get a chance. I think I liked Monterosso the best.
So sorry to hear about your boyfriend. Breakups are the worst. :( Who initiated it or was it a mutual thing? Hopefully, you were able to part on good terms with a hug rather than you throwing dishes and cheese slicers at him. You must be kinda drained emotionally with everything. Hope you are doing ok. Talk to you soon. x
