  Yes you are only slightly right. I am Seventy One years old so I think that qualifies me to answer a small part of your question. Life is about having many goals eg. you want a wife, you want a house, you want children, you want to own a business, you want to travel and the lists go on and on. Remember only what you put into life can you take out. You study hard at school/collage you get good grades this lets you get a good job which means you earn good money you can afford a wife and together you can buy a house then you can have kids when they have grown you can travel and expand your insight on how other people do things and live there lives in other countries The best advice that I can give is to start saving for your old age. the younger start the better, as it means you can save less but for a longer period Being old and pennyless is not fun I see friends and even strangers struggling to make ends meet, its horrible So make one of your goals a pension policy its this goal that will provide for your old age and quality of life when life and time becomes more precious as it does when you get older, beleive me it takes the stress out of living if you have a roof over your head and you are not eating out of a can. I hope this reply will give you some food for thought.However I am more than happy to continue this debate if you would like to.

  Wrong I have worked in many places overseas. People leave South Africa by the hundreds on a daily bases and go to the U K, and other places allover the world In fact many are families with young children leave South Africa where the exchange rate is something like 14 Rand to one British Pound. In order for them to survive and provide for there kids they take jobs far below what they are qualified to do. They realize that needs must come first. I personally know of three families that have found work in the UK in the last couple of months. After you have sold up your home and other worldly goods, your back is against the wall and so they just do what has to be done and that is get a job. Stop moaning. Just because you are an American does not mean that the world or the Brits owes you a job. I suggest you FIND ONE

  Not sure you will like my reply. You sound like a real lazy 44year old. How on this earth can you be unemployed for three years? If you ask me your husband is well shot of you. You say you tried all your so called connections to find employment The way I see it you are just leaning on friends, looking for a hand out. Your first love did the right thing staying away from you, who in his right mind would want to team up with a loser. You really need to jerk yourself out of the rut that you have got yourself into. Take the first job you can get no matter what it is even if it is cleaning toilets. try and become normal again and get some self pride in yourself again

  Good is just another word. Have a look around you see people that are blind, People that are in wheel chairs. People that are sleeping in the gutter through no fault of the own. Now look at all the good you have got. You might have a marriage that sucks is it not possible that you are to blame that it sucks. I feel sorry for your wife /husband. You sound like a selfish loser and a complete waste of space. A change in your life starts when you make a start to change it. Start by helping someone less fortunate than yourself. Make other people feel better about them selfs and you will feel better inside yourself. I doubt that you felt this way from when you were thirteen years old, as someone thought you were good enough to marry and even a mad person would think twice with your present attitude. They say you have three score and ten year to live so why not make the next fifty years happy ones. REMEMBER you the only one that can change the way that you feel. its great to be a happy person

  The slide down is a lot easier than the climb back up. Pick three short time goals
  1. That you want to find a job in one week ( any job it does not matter what job just a job.)
  2.You must keep or stay in this job for at least three months, and must have another job to go to before you leave this one.
  3.This will help PROVE to yourself that you can make it and give you back some of the confidence you have lost plus help win back your family support
  Once people see that you are serious with work and matters that are important they will be ready to support you and start to give you the breaks you desire.
  Improve your education at night school
  Most of all PICK your friends and don’t let them pick you Remember even a bicycle is transport at this stage and will help you get your body/ mind back in shape. If you make it let me know, if you don’t I don’t want to know you
