Sounds like you are having hypnic jerks. They are generally nothing to worry about and very common, something like 10% of people have them regularly.
Not enough research has been done to work out why we get them or how to stop them, but one theory is that your body is fooled into thinking it’s falling as your muscles relax and brain motor control lessens. It’s an instinctive jolt to try and save you from danger.
I’d say try and get some help sorting out your anxiety and the hypnic jerks may become less regular. Sleeping disorders are often a symptom of the underlying issue. - written 6 months, 2 weeks ago
