• How do I Network a Windows Xp Server to a Linux Ubuntu workstation?
  

  I do not run Gnome for the window manager, as that is what Ubuntu uses. But I can give some VERY general guidelines, that will point in the right direction.
  
  First you need to (create/select) a folder on the Linux machine you want to share with Windows.(Windows can not handle the Linux filesystem without addition programs.) Then you need to add this folder to your samba shares as accessible to the workgroup your Windows machine is part of. I know there is a control panel applet, but do not know its name in Gnome that is what you want to use to do this.

  I thbnk you can also find a local L.U.G.(Linux User Group) in your area that can help you with your Linux. But Gentoo is a more ‘advanced’ system and not good for getting your feet wet on trying Linux. Debian and Ubuntu have a much larger user base and will have more people that know it that could help you.

  Well right now it is 9 degrees and cloudy. :^) I have lived here for fourty years and not ready to leave anytime soon. Southern part is more rolling hills and the northern part is more open farming areas. Many of the higher paid jobs are around the Denver Colorado springs area.
