Well, when I originally got it (about a year ago) I wanted something to remind me of who I was and where I came from. There’s a whole story behind needing to be reassured of those things- but it’s pretty long. =) Then, a few months ago, I went to work for a gentleman who has since showed me all it’s different meanings.
Quite honestly, my biggest goal in life is to educate people on the difference between a Lauburu and a Swastika- and also the good about a swastika. They’re very similar in design and meaning- but since the Nazi’s got a hold of the swastika, both have gotten a bad rap.
I know I’m rambling, and I apologize- but my point here is that the Lauburu is such a beautiful symbol (as is a swastika) that I feel pride having on my body whether it means a Basque cross, eternal energy or even prosperity. Any way I look at it- it’s a symbol of pride and understanding. =D
