• I don’t know where to start on what may be causing my sudden feeling of sickness.
  

  I would get tested for diabetes anyway; the symptoms sound very similar and there sometimes is no familial link/ health issue to cause it.
  No sense in not checking.
  Also, try calling your doctor and seeing if he/she thinks it warrants a blood test.
