I am against the stagnation of behinds sitting on pews proper and collecting all there God points for attending Sundays service and giving 10 percent to church to maintain dead things. That money is wasted on the ’show’ once a week..
Most are luke warm at best not in a relationship with God but there to get it checked off. Or could be just there to socialize and find positions in church of authority to be important..

It is very true that many of the people that go to church are not going, out of their love of God. They are going because that is what is “right.”

And that doesn’t make that right… But we are also called to gather together, and worship together. To sing, dance, and offer our praises, in communion.

We were created out of love to be in communion. Both with God, and with each other.

Even Jesus went to the temples to praise and worship with everyone else. Jesus lead the services many of the times.

But mans creation of religion is not perfect. FAR from it. That is a large reason why I don’t count myself as a Christian… or at least no specific denomination. I am a Universalist, because it allows me to follow God as God speaks to me.

well remember you can specify where the monies you give to a church are used.

However monies collected are collected to cover the cost of running a church. Electricity, mortgage, water/sewage, pastors wages, etc. All in addition to any missionary work being done by the church.

Realistically modern churches are not asking for tithes… Tithes were monies offered to God.

What churches are asking for is a donation to cover overhead costs and upkeep. (At least that is the theory)

Unfortunately many churches ask for monies purely for the aquisition of monies.

As for helping orphans and widows… Well in the biblical times orphans and widows had the lowest status. Their status was even lower than a slaves.

Women could not own anything, and until you became an adult you were not a person.
So Widows and orphans were the ones who could not care for themselves. And that is why Jesus wanted us to care for them.

Many churches do make donations to shelters, and such, but that does come down to monies.

As a point of interest… the meaning of the word religion is “relationship with God” :D

I’m doing as well as can be expected. And my ministry is slow but doing well.
Ironically my ministry is aimed at the people of Southwestern Ontario, yet the majority of the peoples that congregate on my ministries site are from here. So I spend some time in my community, but I spend more time here. :D

And though my profile picture does state my status, there is that bit of anonymity that eases most peoples minds. :D

And I have found that most people find that there is much to be desired about mans creations in religion. It is best to just follow your faith, and heart :D
