Mini-Profile

Hi…
I’m a photographer and writer. I’ve been executive editor of PC Computing magazine, and I’ve got a few computing best-sellers to my credit, mainly “How Computers Work.” Check it out at Amazon. My newest book, “How Digital Photography Works,” is due out this Winter sometime.

I’ve also worked as a police reporter, critic, graphic designer, news editor, and a few jobs we just won’t get into. Except for writing, I’d hesitate to call myself an expert on most things. But I’ve picked up a few things along the way that may be helpful.

One thing I know can be helpful is software that does a better job at some pissant little task than Windows does. I’m not talking about switching to Linux. I’m talking about a better clipboard, a better keyboard, a better way to handle those goddam irritating little Windows boxes that pop up to ask you the same idiotic question again and again. Depending on how this Help.com thing works, I plan to write about one program at a time you should use to tame the Windows beast.

Otherwise, we’ll just see how it goes….
