honestly, I think what you have is an Asian moth. . . I’m not a butterfly expert but reciently I have come to understand the beauty of different types of moths, and I do believe this could be one. Never-the-less, I’ll see what I can do.
Now, as for options (options are either loved or hated), what would you say I build you an animated avatar with a butterfly, perhaps even on the very same species of flower that yours is on. I suggest this for several reason -
The clarity of the picture.
And perspective of the view.
I will give what you request my best ability, but somethings I can do with existing photos are very limited or very difficult at best.

Hi Christine!
I’ve done some work on your Avatar and hope you like it. Because of the sheer artistic value of your Avatar, it was rather difficult to come up with an idea that would not harm the actual picture itself.
I would like to think I overcame that difficulty.
There were three main things I wanted to do
1. I wanted the orniment which the angel holds,to change colors but retain its natural beauty.
2. I wanted the Christmas tree to light from the bottom up with the common bulb colors that are typically assosiated with Christmas.
3. Once lit up at the top, the tree would pulse in etherial light and set off the star. I wanted to incorporate both light rays and sun circles. Then the picture would linger and then repeat the process.
Again, I hope its worthy of your approval.

I should be able to light up your tree and make your star blink. This I am able to do more than make your wings flutter - very difficult because your avatar is too high quality (Objects in motion would distort the surrounding picture).

Curious, why do you retain a Christmas avatar when Christmas (as understood today), is not in season???
