I know what you mean. Even after I made a new account I still had an issue with that one. It sorted itself out but I have seen post after post of people not being able to log in.

Anytime-a lot of people scoff at volunteering because it doesnt make you a millionaire, but its one of the most rewarding experiences you can have!

Yes, it definitely will. With a nursing degree you could work with a big number of organisations

I started volunteering with the YMCA, which has organisations all over the world so thats what made it easier for me. If you can find an NGO that is global, get involved on a local level first, then move globally it would be far easier.
A lot of organisations do have volunteering opportunities abroad, but you need specialized skills to do so, like medical knowledge for the Red Cross eg, which is why they dont take everyone.
Probably the best way would be to pick the country you want to go to, and find out what projects are going on there, then approach them directly, theyre usually pretty glad of the help and often offer room and board in exchange for help.

yeah! it’s really cool to see that… i liked the one video on capuchin monkeys who would plan ahead for food and take a long time to prepare it. they’d pick these big nuts and leave them in a spot to dry out and a week later they coud use them. they’d pick them every day and then take one that was already prepared and smash it on a huge stone under another rock. it was col because they had to find the perfect sort of stone, one hard enough so ti wouldn’t absorb impact, but soft enough not to break when it hit the husk. it was cool watching babies learning, they would have such a hard time finding the perfect sized stones, or they’d start too close to the edge and drop everything…

yeah, it’s weird, even though we’re so closely related to some apes we’re practically the same animal it’s still surprising to watch how their behavior is just like us. i didnt even know chimpanzees hunt or spend hours paying their respects to their dead. i cried a wee bit in class while they were showing that video :P

My aunt work in a care facility, an old folks home… she says it’s a really rewarding job :) right now I’m in a lot of anthropology courses… but i think i like learning about the physical stuff like evolution and primatology rather than cultural or archeological stuff. plus, monkeys are really cute…. :D i got to pet one in peru but i think she was only interested in the banana i was feeding her.

Yeah her youse and everything she owned was wiped out and so she was staying with some friends and I think she had insurance and all. She came back to tell us she was all right but I am sure she has much more important things to take care of now.

She has not been on in forever. She disappeared right after the hurricane in NZ took out everything she owned.

The American government is involved, yes, and IC want to keep interest up so they don’t pull out. But my government isn’t involved, and neither are a lot of others.

I’m a bleeding heart liberal, but the truth of the matter is that there are many shoddy charity organizations who don’t do much of anything and some others who end up making things worse because they’re basically incompetent. it doesn’t matter how important the cause, if the NGO sucks, real solutions will be hard to come by.

yes, its way more complicated than that. that’s my point. and regardless of what happens to Kony, his capture will likely do nothing to ending violence in the region. red herring? given the lack of real solutions and the over-simplification of the issue, I would guess the that the real intent is to make money.

Yes. A lot of people are leaving Facebook; it’s a stalker’s paradise. And now the governments are crawling all over it (and My Space) looking for people who don’t report income or owe for judgements, fines, etc. ..lol..creepy!
