I am starving (literally 6 days since my last meal) and need some help finding resources. posted (3 years, 2 months) ago
I’m currently working hard to find employment (I average about 5 interviews each week over th…
they are tight everywhere. I’m an able bodied caucasian citizen with no baby daddy so I am under tighter scrutiny than some other people may be - that’s what the DSHS person told me a month ago when they denied me any benefit - I “earn” 2 dollars over the dead beat poverty level monthly cap. I know of a single, caucasian male who is getting almost 200 bucks a month in food benefits but he lied about his income and I’m not messing with that sort of fraud. I already have a legal issue in hand to deal with so I don’t need further issues.

I stole a sandwich…it was almost a 4 mile round trip walk but I ate today. I asked them first what they did with expired foods from the deli or bakery etc. and they didn’t know. I asked for the manager and told him my situation and he said I could purchase anything I needed but they do not give anything to any organization or individual so I’m going to guess if I can make the walk again at 2am post closing of the store, I’ll find food in the dumpsters. It’s the closest market/food source and while I know it’s wrong to steal, I can always go back when I can pay for it and tell them that I walked out with it in my hand and didn’t pay so that I can pay it back. A friend offered to loan me money but that usually creates major issues so I can’t accept it since I don’t know when I’d be able to pay him back. I found a project that he’ll earn about 2k on and referred him to the job so if he does the work, I’ll be hitting him up for a small cut as I’ve been advising him on the business and technical aspects of the job so he’ll be willing to give me a few dollars for the support that in years previous I’ve given for free to numerous people.
Thanks for your ideas. I’m surviving so far and actually have far bigger problems than this but thought I’d update anyone who cared. :)

True time and it5. I’ve had great appetizers at gallery openings or shows when I wasn’t broke and heard that some bakeries dump their day olds that don’t sell. all great recommendations.
I feel like a jerk but I have to function through Tuesday for these interviews so I’m reaching out and appreciate your help

thanks Time Traveller, for posting the DOC locator and catholic charities but
1. There are no results for Washington at the DOC link
2. Spokane doesn’t service Western Washington
That said, you tried and gave me some ideas and I really do appreciate everyone who is giving info. I’m getting used to not eating but I also know a friend who is in a similar situation. He said that the local food pantry close to him gives away hamburgers from mac donalds but there are no real food programs here outside of the soup kitchen (which I’ll be grateful for) and DSHS which has already denied me any sort of aid.
I will try Catholic charities for my area and the Salvation Army if I have no food for Tuesday since I’ll survive off of that piece of cheese I just had for a couple of days…

I honestly feel human again after eating trash lol. If someone would have told me 5 years ago my life would be like this I’d have had them hospitalized for insanity. Now I’m ready to just get myself clinically held so I’ll have some steady food and help with this stupid depression.
At least I have more interviews next week so again, THANKS so much to the nice people who understand that sometimes people need a meal here and there that they can’t afford. Cutting the mold off of a hunk of cheese I found and eating it has changed my whole feeling of desperation and now I can function for the next couple of days.
I had two excellent interviews last week that I’m hoping pay off in at least one job offer. Thanks for reading
