  On a serious move, I’d definitely find it disturbing, or at the very least discomforting to just hoist MY cooking and housework onto someone else. It would be weird.

  Nope. Only you know.
  
  But I can guess. My guess right now is that you’re not homosexual but are enthralled by this person in the broader sense. I’m not a psychologist by a long shot but I know that a lot of people do develop this sort of obsession about someone. The subject is usually historical figures, childhood influences, things like that. But it can also be your boss, teacher, mentor etc.
  
  It’s not really harmful unless it starts *dictating* your actions. Note that this is distinct from that person *influencing* your actions. “Well what would xyz have done in this situation” is not what I mean by dictate.
  When the obsession itself compels you to do things and interferes with the ordinary course of your life, that’s when you should be worried. Otherwise, relax.

  In general, it is a difficult task to know what’s going on in a person’s mind when you cannot see them.
  
  You lose access to the vast reservoir of information provided by a person little mannerisms, small flicks of the eyes, trivial hand gestures, the fleeting facial expressions…
  
  I agree with the opinion above me. You need to spend some time with him (in person) to get a real idea of where things stand.
  Without meeting him, you’d be grasping at straws, little specks of information, that could lead you to an erroneous conclusion.

  Casual I guess. I’d just put on a pair of jeans and a casual shirt. Or maybe dockers/cargo pants.
  Of course, I’m a guy and my dress sense is kind of eccentric so you’ll understand if this isn’t very helpful.

  It’s not about just “feeling” the wind. The wind is a scientifically explainable, REPRODUCABLE, experimentally verified fact. You can feel a lot of things. That doesn’t mean they exist. If you get a fever, you feel cold. That doesn’t mean you ARE cold.
  
  I’m sorry but I refuse to have blind belief in anything just because a book written thousands of years ago says so. I’m NOT saying I disbelieve it either. We don’t have any proof either way. Therefore we don’t know and should be willing to leave it at that. If you want to believe it, fine. Don’t tell everyone else to believe it to just because you (or the bible or the koran or whatever) say(s) so

  1. Googled help, just for fun. No real reason.
  
  2. It was originally “onlypuranjay”, as a tribute to one of my friends from India who was killed in a car accident the day before I joined and whose name was Puranjay. I guess I was just thinking about him. That was only for a very short while. I then changed it to “I, Human”, which was a play on the collection of short stories by Isaac Asimov, titled “I, Robot”. It also represented that I’m nothing special, I’m just like everyone else. Just an ordinary person. This final version represents the same idea more forcefully.
  
  3. It’s an image from the Wikipedia page for Delhi. When I first came to Delhi, I was full of fantasies about elephants, snake charmers, and snake-oil salesmen just like a lot of European people. Instead I found this sprawling, bustling city which was a curious mixture of modern and ancient and poor and rich. The picture shows people the modern side, which a lot of people have no idea about.

  I don’t know if it’s worth it but the rational, level-headed thing to do would be to move on. It’s like poker. You’re losing but have bet big. At this point, you have to make a choice.
  
  Choice 1:
  Accept that this is over. Just forget all the time and effort spent over the relationship and start afresh. In other words, sink those costs.
  
  Choice 2:
  Plod on, in the hopes of getting it all back.
  
  Choice 1 seems more rational to me but it may not be as emotionally palatable.

  What’s the point of going out if you’re going to be feeling self-conscious all the time? Let’s be clear, this is supposed to be fun for you too, not just him. Fat chance of having fun in that frame of mind.
  
  
  He can ask you to wear what he likes. He did that. You can refuse to wear it. If you’re uncomfortable, please exercise your choice.
