  I’ll agree, however, if you don’t want to go that route, try getting out. Go visit some family for an extended visit, or take a trip with some good friends. Work to get your life back in order. It may even help if you bought a new pet. They would never replace your dog, but they may help ease the pain.

  I do not personally know of any programs specifically for us musicians. Did you have your flute insured? I’m assuming no as you haven’t been able to get another one. Not knowing your financial situation, and I am unsure if this will help, but you may be able to get a beginner flute in good shape and at a low price on places such as ebay. Not sure if you want to go that route as I’m sure you had a much better flute since you have been playing for nine years. It may possibly be able to hold you over until you can purchase a better flute.
  I’ll do some research and see if I might be able to come up with anything that may help. I know my response here hasn’t done much. :-\
  I wish you the best of luck in finding another flute. I can understand your pain. I also play flute, though clarinet is my home instrument.

  Thanks Papa Bear! My best friend also plays bass and electric, so he is teaching me a little and helping me out on that side of the spectrum.
  Just something random from today. I picked up an electric for the first time after playing the acoustic for a week and had a reality check on how much smaller the neck was. =P I had troubles changing this really simple chord because I was overshooting the strings. I found it somewhat amusing, but mostly annoying.
  I plan on getting an electric sometime during the summer. I think that will give me enough time to 1) do plenty of research and 2)most importantly, learn what I need to learn on the acoustic. I need to get a guitar of my own soon as I’m slightly petrified of doing something to my dad’s considering how clumsy I can be at times. I’d never forgive myself If anything happened to his guitar…
  
  In the electric department, I had a few questions.
  I’m looking for a fairly cheap guitar. I was thinking of a Squier. The one I currently have my eye on is a Fat Strat Special Ed.
