  No. I’m not on facebook. And here’s why:
  
  1. It’s a complete waste of time.
  2. It’s a complete invasion of privacy.
  3. I feel no desire whatsoever to make a self-centered, conceited web page about me, myself, and I.
  4. It gives people a false sense of connection, friendship, and importance.
  5. It shows that anybody actively using facebook has no real life, because they’re always on facebook.
  6. Betty White thinks it’s stupid.
  7. It opens you up to things like ID theft and cyber crimes.
  8. It causes more complication and trouble in life than it’s worth.
  9. It is just another kind of “mail” you have to check, aside from actual mail, email, text messages, and voicemail. And if you don’t respond to it but once or twice a month, people mistakenly think you are upset at them.
  10. There are better, more productive things to do with my time; like clip my toenails or learn how to chop an onion three different ways.

  Well, not to argue or say that you’re wrong, because it can seem like this has gone off topic. But the OP is asking “how do you get better?” after being raped. And one of the ways you get better is by knowing the issues that surround the pain you’re going through.
  
  Experiencing pleasure during the rape is one of the hardest things you have to let go of, as a rape victim. It can be FAR more damaging to you than the actual pain of the rape, because it can prevent you from enjoying anything that you once found pleasure in. It can destroy your life, if you associate pleasure with the memory of being raped.
  
  Anyway, I’ll drop the topic. I just want anybody who has been raped to know that just because your body had a natural, pleasureable reaction to the stimulation, it doesn’t mean you “wanted it” or that you enjoyed being raped. And if anybody feels that way, it’s important to know that it is a lie.

  So you move on to wanting other things.
  
  If you choose to be happy, regardless of the physical things in your life, then you won’t rely on “stuff” for the source of your happiness. Let love and life be the source of your joy. Let God be the source of your peace and undisturbed composure. Because if the world isn’t the source of your joy, then the world can’t take it away.

  That is EXACTLY my point. We’re NOT learning from history. The laws being made today regarding things are exactly like the laws made in the past. We are passing judgment on situations and events that are only legitimate to our present time. These laws which grant sexuality the right to marry, even though they seem so rational and “equal” today, they will likely end up being highly repressive in generations to come. Sure, the laws of the past may have excluded some minority groups. But they were made to benefit the most people with the most good. Laws today don’t follow that same ideology. Laws today seek to protect small groups of people, by watering down the laws that previously existed. And if you water down something enough, it no longer resembles what it once was.
  
  People have mentioned various reasons why incest has not been allowed in the past. It increases the chance for genetic abnormalities to become dominant. It prevents marrying outside of one’s “class” or location. And it is something our brains naturally try to avoid. It’s not a healthy relationship, by any means (unable to separate family love from romance and sexuality).
  
  I would advise that, instead of discussing things like incest and same-sex marriage, that it would do everybody some good to learn the history of Marriage, and why it even exists to begin with. It’s like people trying to debate the Constitution, when they don’t even know why it was written. Just do some research and learn about how it has worked in a variety of cultures (from Native Americans to Ancient Egypt). And when you’re done, THEN you can decide whether or not incest, or any other type of sexuality, should or shouldn’t be allowed a marriage.

  All right, I am starting to see what you are talking about. So, you see teachers as not being condescending for the reasons you listed. Would it change your view of me to know that I have the training and education to teach several subjects? Or is it because I’m offering information that you don’t see as relevant to the conversation?
  
  You say “there is the fact that you chose to bring that up at all…” I chose to bring it up because I don’t want you to think that I see you as stupid because of educational differences. Also, I said “everybody has gaps in their knowledge”. When I say everybody, I include myself. So whatever attitude you felt from that statement would also have to be applied to everybody in the world, including myself. How can I be condescending to myself?
  
  I think it’s very natural for people to see whatever they want to see. They judge too quickly, forgive too slowly, and spend too much time focusing on the details when they should be looking at the idea as a whole. Indeed, everybody does those things sometimes, even when they are not trained against doing it. So I do not fault anybody for misunderstanding or finding offense where none was intended. But it certainly doesn’t mean that they are CORRECT to be offended.
  
  I come to this site to help people, and to engage in some very decent debates. I greatly enjoy my life, and I love people. And this is a way to share that love and great life experience with others.
  
  When I look at somebody who has been through hell, I know I have a better life than them. But that does not mean that I feel as though I am a better person than they are. I have superior quality of life, but I am not superior. And I am overwhelmingly compassionate because of that knowledge. I am eternally grateful at how blessed I am to have such a wonderful life. I also recognize that my life is not the result of random luck or happenstance. There is an order and a method to the wonderfulness. So I choose to share my experiences and ideas with people in the hopes that they might use that info to figure out how to get out of whatever bad situation they are in; or make a good situation better.
  
  Now, I have met people before who think this is condescending, rather than compassionate. I say things like “I am against poverty”, and some people who identify themselves with poverty will interpret that as “I am against poor people.” A person who has been fat all their lives might think “I hate obesity” to mean “I hate fat people.” And somebody who strongly identifies with homosexuality might take “I hate homosexuality” to mean “I hate gay people.” When the truth is that I love people with all my heart. And I hate the things I do BECAUSE of how much I love people.
  
  Also, you can rest assured that nothing you ever do or say will offend me. Same goes for everybody else I talk to. It doesn’t make me better than anybody else, but it sure makes my life easier.

  Well, then please, explain to me how I’m being condescending. Could you give specific examples? Could you please back up your ideas? I get that you are feeling like this, but I have no idea WHY. All you say is “You’re the same as always” and “You’re condescending.” I don’t understand why you say those things.
  
  That’s why I made the last post, to try to offer ideas as to why you see me this way. I do not feel superior to anybody, least of all you. You don’t seem to have a problem with my arguments, so much as with this perceived condescending attitude. Do you feel that teachers are condescending when they try to teach you something? Or do you feel that they are just offering you what they know? Is it just me that you find condescending? Or do you feel like other people are condescending as well? If you do, what other kinds of people do you find condescending? Police officers? Parents? Hipsters?

  I wanted to post these here, since other people are also asking similar questions on this post. I hope you don’t mind.
  
  I do not believe in Karma the way that Hindus believe in it. But the idea of your actions coming back upon you, yes. I do believe in that. It is a natural law. If you plant seeds in the ground, you’ll get a harvest. If you plant actions in other people’s lives, you’ll reap a harvest of the same actions.
  
  I believe that if you accept Christ as your lord and savior, and repent of your sins, then you will be forgiven. And by using the Blood of Jesus, you are able to make a case against Karma and judgment. So when the enemy comes to accuse you, and says “Look, they did all these horrible things! Karma demands that they be punished!” You can plead the blood of Jesus, and say “I am forgiven! Karma has no power over me! I am washed clean of all sin by the blood that knew no sin!”
  
  All you have to do to forgive others and yourself is choose to forgive them. Choose to love them. You don’t do it for their sakes, you do it for YOUR sake. Because when somebody hurts us, they take power over us. And as long as we stay hurt, they keep the power. If you forgive them, you retake the power.
  
  The same thing applies to yourself. Love yourself, forgive yourself, because God loved you and forgave you first. And if God can do it, knowing every evil thing you’ve ever done, you can do it.
  
  Guilt, anger, and bitterness are symptoms. When you get the sniffles, or start coughing a lot, you recognize those as symptoms of a cold. They are not problems themselves, but rather they are warning signs of something deeper. Guilt, anger, and bitterness are the same way. You feel guilty when you know you’ve done something wrong. So ask to be forgiven, and try to make things right. Anger and bitterness are symptoms of pride. When somebody hurts you, or wrongs you, and you get angry at them, it’s because they hurt your pride. And bitterness is just a person who stays angry for a long time. Just let go of it all, and forgive. Again, you don’t forgive them for their sake, you do it for your sake.
  
  When two people are screaming, the person that has power is the one that chooses to stop screaming, be quiet, and say “I am sorry, and I forgive you.”
  
  Something people forget is that negative things are not powerful. They are destructive, but destruction isn’t power. Creation is power. Anybody can kill. A stray bolt of lightning can kill. A person who gets distracted while driving can kill.
  
  It takes TRUE power to resurrect the dead.
  
  So while anybody can scream and get angry, power comes from being quiet, choosing to love, and choosing to be kind. Anybody can have pride, it takes power to have humility. Anybody can be hurt. It takes power to be healed.
  
  And that power is in the Word of God, which is another name for Jesus. And through Jesus, you have that power. It’s inside you. You can choose to do it. All you need to do is choose. The strength comes to you when you make the choice. The strength needed to have peace will come when you choose to only scream “I LOVE YOU!” The strength needed to forgive others will come when you humble yourself, and choose to ask God and others for forgiveness. And the strength needed to face all the horrors of the world will come when you choose to say by faith, “I will live, and my life will glorify God.”

  LOL, you and I are completely not communicating. I agree wholeheartedly that religion and science do not mix and cover entirely different aspects of life. I assert that they are not meant to. Science is not a religion, it is a collection of facts and theories. It is perfectly feasible to eat apples AND oranges, but if you only like apples, I won’t force my oranges on you. Why do you feel a need to forbid me one or the other?[/quote]
  
  Well, then both of you are in complete disagreement with Albert Einstein, who believed that both science and religion needed one another. So while I’m sure you’re both intelligent people, I’m going to consider Einstein with a bit more esteem.
