• (6 votes) Did you know that 4,287 of our soldiers died in the Iraq war, and about 75,000 people in the US die in an alcohol related death every year?
  

  The enthusiasts of war will crow and rant about the benefits of violence till the sun goes up in the dawn, but they will not acknowledge the merits of diplomacy nor the existence of dialogue as a possible way of conflict resolution.
  
  For the war monger, the world is made up of two colours alone and of those two colours, the war monger’s colour is always pure, unadulterated white.
  
  Any rational person with a friendly attitude towards humanity will use violence only as the last resort.
  
  To the war monger, violence is the first and only effective solution.
  
  An enemy is created, demonized, bombed, beaten, ravaged, cursed, plagued, ripped apart, and destroyed in a stupendous display of ego and greed, but even while doing this in plain view, this person will play to perfection the part of the wounded victim, the part of the person just saved from a terrific tragedy, the part of one who was only seeking defence from overpowering, overwhelming evils beyond anyone’s control.
  
  There are strenuous denials about the efficacy of delicate diplomacy.
  
  There are repeated assertions that the world would had it not been for the war monger’s own army.
  
  There are poisonous contentions about politics and economics, all carried out in the violently crimson backdrop of sacred human blood spilled by the gallon, in the backdrop of hot lead that tears its way into human flesh, seeing neither American nor Iraqi, nor black nor white as it finds its human target.
  
  Again and again, the war monger will claim that it is human nature to be at war. That it is the law of nature to kill or be killed. That world peace is a utopian ideal.
  
  There is no attempt to see that the human race strives towards utopian ideals every second of every day in this world even though it is known that they can never be achieved, no attempt to see that the law of nature is no longer something humans are rigidly bound by, no attempt to see that the “killing” in nature is not carried out by nuclear bombs that can decimate entire populations at once.
  
  A crime-less society is impossible. Should the police quit and watch cartoons on television?
  
  A just society is impossible. Should courts be dismantled?
  
  There is no society in which theft, rape and murder does not occur. Must we stop decrying rape, murder and theft and concentrate our energies instead on alcoholics and crack addicts? More people die of alcohol than serial killers. Do you claim that anyone who condemns serial killers a hypocrite? Do you not condemn them yourself?
  
  Your entire “argument” is a study in logical fallacy.
  
  Yet you have the audacity to stand on a soapbox and claim that you see a massive lack of common sense here.
  
  You claim that the military protects your freedoms.
  
  Do you even know the meaning of that buzz-phrase?
  
  Pray list out for me what freedoms you are in danger of losing as a direct result of Iraqi dictators.
  
  You claim that you’d “much rather have an army protect my right, as well as everyone else’s right, to life, liberty, and property”
  
  Is “everyone else” limited to only to Americans? What about the life, liberty and property of people that your precious military destroyed, and continues to destroy, in countries other than your own?
  
  You claim that “No violence is a post-industrial ideal, so unless we go out and destroy every other culture that doesn’t agree with ours, war will continue to be needed.”
  
  There is no justification offered for that statement, and yet you claim refuge in “logic”.
  
  Do you know that there is a difference between privately held assumptions and objective logical deductions?
  
  If you do not, what right have you to scream bloody murder about emotional arguments? Are you not doing precisely the same thing?
  
  I do not profess to know if war can ever end.
  
  No one with an iota of intellectual honesty can claim to do so.
  
  Yet you do it with all the shameless confidence of a mathematician who has “proved” that zero equals one.
  
  You even imply that there is no use even TRYING to stop war.
  
  Well, you are entitled to your beliefs.
  As I am entitled to spit on them, vile as they are.

  Maybe you could stop treating “women” as one unified front. They’re individuals. Some of them are immature and WILL go for the bad guy types again and again and again. But if you are what she’s looking for, she WILL, by definition, be attracted. I have never had a girlfriend, am unlikely to have one anytime soon and am not even legally an adult yet. Perhaps what I say holds little value for you. But I’ve already seen enough evidence in my life to convince me of two things.
  
  First, a lot of guys who claim to be “nice” aren’t nice at all. The moment you become proud of the fact that you’re nice, know that you’ve lost your niceness. Behaving well is not a favour to anyone. It needs to be who you are. Your character. Not just an act. Second, the real nice guys DO NOT finish last. The people who finish last are usually the ones who are unconfident, or unwilling to take initiative, or overtly self conscious and rather than trying to overcome those problems, portray themselves as nice guys finishing last. Sure they’re nice. But that’s not why they finish last.

  I’m not saying that whites are not labeled. It’s the fact that because there are a lot more of them in America, the opinions of them fluctuate. When a white person does something stupid, the guy is judged on a personal level. HE alone is the moron in the situation. But, if a minority were to do the exact same thing, it’d get categorized as typical behavior by the entire race.
  
  Also, lots of whites don’t care when a minority judges them, as they most likely have tons of white friends, so the opinion of the “other” is deemed irrelevant. I’m not generalizing, of course. I just mean it as an example of how some people think.

  I understand that it gets a bit much at times, but really, exactly why should anyone give much credence to views which are completely biased, when it is OBVIOUS to most thinking human beings that they are biased? Let the idiots spout their crabshit worldviews, while those of us who know better do something more productive, like water the begonias or debate random stuff on help.com

  The iOS interface is certainly excellent, as are most Apple interfaces is general.
  
  Using an iPhone feels a bit like sex with a really amazing partner.
  
  You make little, gentle touches in the right places, and it responds to that so beautifully. Sheer pleasure. Slick, smooth, perfect.
  
  On the other hand, the iPhone is locked seven ways to Sunday. Everything about it is proprietary. Ruins an otherwise excellent piece of hardware.
  
  Android is pretty good too, but it’ll take time to reach that level of refinement.
