That would be great! :) My daughter is a little social butterfly; my oldest son is a bit of a shy one; and my youngest is rambunctious as heck!!! Little one drives me bonkers :)
Yeah, Christmas is going to be a bit different this year, anyway. We were planning on doing a small trip (overnight at a ski resort) instead of gifts…we’ll see how that works out; I have a friend who owns a property management company for condos at a ski resort…might be able to get a cheaper rate.
Not that great. My husband has been out 2 evenings in a row. And he’s going to be out again tomorrow evening. And I got sucked into a troll post so that was discouraging.
Anything outstanding in that “outstanding” is your own definition :) Needs to be done; or outstanding…either one :)
Yeah, that’s me too..working on things that I have put off for far too long.
I read your post about the business partner thing. It’s a good idea, I think, if you implicitly trust the business partner…otherwise, just hire someone when you can to do what you don’t want to do.
I homeschool but not my own kid! As part of my tutoring business I offer homeschooling. That is allowed here, you can get your kid homeschooled by someone else. You would have to look into the legalities in your area.
My kid didn’t want to be homeschooled, though I, too, seriously considered it. She didn’t want to lose all her friends.
Hm. I’m getting my Master’s in Elementary Ed. I’m three classes plus comps away from it.
However, the more time I spend in the schools, and the more I have seen, either professionally, as a Christian, and as a mother….the more disappointed I am. I’m considering homeschooling…though I’m not sure if I have what it takes…lol
Or tutoring. I’ve thought about tutoring or maybe even starting a kindergarten readiness sort of daycare…
I have an 8, 7 (as of 9-30) and 4 year old.
What grade did you teach? I did 3rd and 4th grade…
I am kind of in business for myself…I sell Mary Kay; mystery shop (home based businesses); and I’m the financial person in our house, and have purchased some rental properties (before and after marriage) that I maintain. Those are all sort of “being in business for myself…” But I’d like to write a book; make more money somehow…without having to go back to work. LOL :)
I am a teacher but I have gone into business for myself - tutoring and some educational websites.
I have a 7 month old and I have basically decided I’m not going back to teaching in a school setting, unless God has that in mind for me in the future.
As for people stealing your work, well some people have copied my poems on to their websites but I’m not to worried.
You can Google a phrase and find those words on the net.
If a website had my stuff on it and I didn’t want them to I would contact them and ask them to remove it and then threaten legal action if they didn’t.
Hm. Maybe I will look that up. We have some serious medical bills that will be coming in soon and I need to figure out a way to make some extra cash :s
I could do a 500 word article in less than half an hour, I think….
As for working for guru.com, you need to pay a membership fee. I made more than that back in the first month. You can easily make $6-8 for a 500 word article. So you need to be fast to turn any kind of a profit. You can however, choose the kinds of articles you would like to write.
I like you and would totally tell you my website but am too totally paranoid. :( Runs in my family. Just if you would slip up and accidentally say my name on here, the record is forever and then stalkers could find me through that as I sort-of have a one of a kind name…:(
Wow! Three finished stories!! I’m impressed! Maybe you are too hard on yourself and they are great…’course I do understand the need to edit.
Sometimes, though, with this book that I want to write, I feel like I’ve bitten off more than I can chew…the story has been inside of me for a long time, though, so I think it has to be told. It’s just a matter of organizing my thoughts into a coherent story and then organizing that story into something a few ppl would want to read….”just….” LOL
Maybe I’ll try to work for guru.com. Is it hard to get a job with them? I know about working for pennies…I do mystery shopping, and it doesn’t pay much at all, but it’s a way to bring in a little bit of income/enhance our lifestyle…and I can schedule it around the rest of my life, so it works.
Can you email me your websites? If you don’t want to, that is ok, too. Maybe I should start a website like that to “get my name out there….” But would ppl steal your work??
Are you a teacher (I ask b/c of the education reference; and making money from it…)
I write Cristian Fiction, Science Fiction and Fantasy short stories and novels. I have written 3 novels that I have ‘finished’. But now I’m re-writing them because I know they are not as good as they could be.
I worked for guru.com writing articles and getting paid for that. The pay is horrible but it is a good way to get some experince writing articles. Most people your write for there though, you end up being a ‘ghost writer’ like your name doesn’t get put on the articles.
I also ’self-publish’ online. I have a poetry/short story website (this is just for fun and for the benefit of the readers) and I also self-publish articles relating to education on a different website that I have (this is to do with my business and to make money from).
LOL. You know Sans, right? He said, when I told him that I got that much done that quickly, that he read a recommendation that a writer should just “go for it…” :) I can write a pretty good poem in about 10 minutes.
What do you write? Have you had anything published??
I’ve been working on it for about a week and a half. It’s about me, my daughter and my mom…kind of a “full circle” sort of thing…how my daughter is my inspiration and is teaching me to be a better mom than the example that I had. Though that is sort of the “plot” of the book, and that is not fiction…the actual events in the book will be mostly fiction.
