Hey Kt, you may have been already planning this, but I was wondering if you could make a post about what exactly has happened with consumate.com and the lag issues. The rumors are starting to fly and people are talking of this site being closed down.
Sorry I never got back to you, I’ve been busy lately. I can’t think of much to add to what I said before, about where to eat and drink. Powerscourt Gardens are a must I have to say and they have a lovely restaurant.
Well, there is a chinese place called The Good World on Georege St. (Dublin City center) which is nice, good food for a good price and not too fancy, casual clothes would be fine but you could also have a formal night out. Eating out can be very expensive in Dublin. There’s a Thai place called Ruen Thai in Ranelagh, kind of near the city center, might take a bus trip. Also there is a bar named Gogartys in Temple Bar, it’s irish theme and play Irish traditional music at the weekends, can get hecticly busy tho but right next door to it, actually connected to it there is a much nicer quieter bar, old irish style and actually one of the finest bars in Dublin. For excellent Guinness, you have Chaplins, a quiet bar by The Screen Cinema (old style cinema) which is next to Trinnity College (a must see). Chaplins is the kind of place you find through years of drinking in Dublin, a real treat for them as there will be no tourists and it’s very quiet. Then you have Wyns Hotel, probably better Guinness on a good day and the clientelle would be of the older variety a nice calm place good for a meal too. That is the first right hand turn off O’Connel St. Hmm, in terms of resteraunts I can’t think of any that really stand out. There is a place called Cafe Bar Deli that has been repeatedly reccomended to me, I think that is also on Georges St. it’s italian kind of middle of the road food, it is quite popular and first come first serve so probably better for early dinner/late lunch. The guinness brewery is worth a look but not the best Guinness at all in Dublin and it’s a long walk. I have to warn you tho, Dublin gets very hectic at the weekends, allot of rowdy drunken people from about 10pm getting worse until about 3am, then all hell breaks loose. Sorry about the long shout, if I think of anything I left out I’ll let ya know ;)
Any recs for bars and dinner in the Dublin area? I.E. where would you take your folks? My folks are the ones headed over in 2 weeks and they would be grateful for some local recs :)
Hey, emm, that post of manbearpigs was just a joke and I wasn’t offended at all. I may be totally out of line to ask this and if I am sorry, but could you please reopen it?
Yes I’m aware of this, there is nothing on their profile to sudgets they are a kid. And the question was “I need a secret code…” the secret code in the film ‘Children of men’ was “you’re a fascist pig” this was said when the 2 main characters met the prison guard sid they were told to say it, I was making a joking reference to it like i explained in the post. I DID NOT mean to offend anyone and it did’nt occur to me I was breaching rules of conduct… Sorry
lol, that was a reference to a movie in context of the original post, read the folowing comment I made. Sorry, it’s kinda funny tho, verry cliche thing to say lol
