  I have been best friends with my ex (from highschool) since before my husband and I met. He knew right from the beginning that i would not choose between ANY of my friends, and my husband is just a friend that i have committed myself to on a physical and emotional level… the man i could live with for the rest of my life and be happy… that doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to have friends. I am friends with his ex wife and he is friends with my ex and i am raising his daughter from his previous marriage, and loving it. it all comes down to trust and honesty. period. be honest enough to trust each other and trust each other enough to be honest.

  hey - seriously… don’t lose the generosity and compassion that you have, they are rare qualities. listen, there are people out here, successful people by the standards of what is beneficial to those they help, who spent a lot of time getting burned before they found what it means to not allow yourself to be burned…
  
  Here’s what I mean, when you give to someone, don’t expect anything in return. Do it just because it is kind. If they don’t reciprocate, you didn’t expect them to, so you won’t be disappointed by them not doing so. Give because giving is free. If you don’t have it to give, don’t give it. Do not short yourself unless the person you are giving to is in more of a crisis than yourself.

  using phrases like letting her guard down around you can be an indicator of trust issues. So can having sex early on in a relationship. I know this seems counter-intuitive but I know this from personal experience. It’s kind-of tricky, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you should run screaming. It just means that she has been burned badly at some point in her life, most likely young. I agree with Rachael in that you should call her and ask if she’s ok. Listen to her answer and give her the opportunity to feel safe talking to you. Then see if she still plans to go with you on wed. just my perspective :)

  lol… yes and yes… i am ever in the process of redefining what it means to be ‘awake’ but i like to bring others with me along the way, not like recruit, lol, but just share goodness. (i cant believe i am using words this corny) but i dont know what other words to use. :P
