  It sounds like a case of jealousy. You have to realize that there’s room for every one. I bet there’s someone who appreciates your abilities and actually looks up to you. You just can’t see it because you’re so focused on your shortcomings. Here’s some tips to handle jealousy.

  Another thing I want to say is that you need to be proactive instead of reactive. I learned this lesson in college. When I’m reactive, I tell myself I’m not good enough and I keep wishing for things I don’t have. I choose to be upset and put myself down. That’s me REACTING to the situation.
  
  When I’m proactive I start by fixing the problem. Firstly, you’re not going to get anywhere by comparing yourself to her. Secondly, you need to focus on your strengths (make a list of what you do well) and build on those. I’m a Human Resources manager, and the way I can make a person or a group of people better is by showing them what they do well. I learned in the past that if you just focus on their weaknesses, your not going to make any progress. PERIOD. Being proactive means being patient and taking meaningful steps towards a goal.
  
  It looks like you like the performing arts. I was a music major in college (until I switched to business a few years later) and yes, you do fall into the trap of thinking that someone out there can do/sing/perform better than you. SO WHAT! You’ll always be improving, you’ll always be growing in your abilities. I promise. By the way, if she really is your friend, you could ask her for advice or tips on how to improve. Ask her what she thinks you do well. I’m sure that she doesn’t think poorly of you. Best of luck and don’t get discouraged!

  I’ve actually thought a lot about my attractiveness. As far as physical looks, I put myself down a lot because I don’t like the way I look. I keep telling myself that there are a lot of other guys that are better looking than me. I have a thin build which is nice, but I’m self-conscious of my nose and my thinning hair. So you asked me what I could improve, and I could definitely stop being so negative about myself. I know I need to improve my self-esteem, and be confident (but not cocky).
  
  I can be really fun and funny to hang around (so I’m told). I can make girls laugh and I make sure that we do awesome activities together. I really need to improve my communication skills/ flirting skills though. I have a hard time telling girls how much I care about them and how pretty they are.
  
  As far as the girls I’m interested in, I’m not looking for the gorgeous princesses. I just want a simple, average girl that I’m attracted to (like most of the girls I’ve gone out with). Anyway, I feel like I have a lot to offer. I have a good job, a lot of money saved, I’ll graduate from college in a year, and I’m one of the most caring guys a girl could ever meet.
