Do you have home owners insurance? Did it also cover pets? If they knew nothing about them than no you do not have coverage.
If your pets ARE covered, call your homeowners insurance agent. If your dog bit the guy on the motorcycle, than a lawyer could show the dog caused the accident. If NO dog bite the burden shifts to the plaintiff to show probable cause. Insurance companies have high-priced lawyers.
If your pet is NOT covered by your insurance company you need to lawyer up and the best you can get.
