  I don’t consider myself a believer in any higher power and all that, and I am disgusted with the kind of people who behave like this man you speak off. I really hate those people. I’m in the position that I myself grew up with a semi-religious background. I do know the Bible, the very same one that this guy is preaching from. People that judge you and tell you you’re going to hell do not follow Bible teachings. People that think you’re evil because you don’t believe in their god should not consider themselves Christian.
  
  Jesus Christ (main character from the new testament, for you people who might not know the name) stated that you must see your own faults before you correct others. There’s also a lovely story there about a Samaritan (non-believer, and apparently evil according to your leaflet friend) helped out a person in need, showing that you do not have to be affiliated with a certain religion to be a good person.
  
  If we step a bit further back (or really more to the front of the Bible), there was this dude that went up on a mountain and got some carvings made in stone. 10 simple rules for how to live right (and stay on the right side of the law) were carved into these stone plates or disks (I haven’t seen the original design). You must correct me if I’m very wrong on this one, but I do believe one of them said “honor your neighbor”. Since the writings in the Bible don’t come with a manual, I will try to say what I myself believe this means. “Honor” in this case - I don’t think - doesn’t mean praise him to the sky and shower him with gifts. “Neighbor” most likely means the entire human race, and not just Bob you lean over the fence to talk to. So I’m guessing this means, respect everyone for what they are… even the Samaritan in his turban (or whatever it is the Samaritans wear).
  
  So yes, I think what leaflet guy was doing was a direct act against his religion. Well, it’s perfectly alright to go around handing out leaflets and asking people to consider what is there in, but everything has it’s limit. Decency and common sense have to count for something.
  
  Having said all that, I hope you don’t believe I’m some kind of anti-Christ. I personally don’t care what people believe in. I’m gonna be bold and say that EVERYONE is right. You believe in God? Oh you’re absolutely right… You believe in science? Oh you’re spot on there ol’ sport… You worship a stick in the mud? Odd, but good for you. I’m very tolerant, but if you reserve the right to call me “evil” and/or ignorant because I don’t follow your exact belief/theory, I’ll reserve the right to call you a moron and laugh in your face.
  
  I like and dislike people on all sides. Our previous local priest (Evangelic Lutheran) was a very nice and sensible person (funny too). My Buddhist business school teacher was a smart woman, who was hated by some for being a hardass, but always seemed to treat me fairly. My Atheist multimedia school friends were the stuff real friends are made off, and I miss being in contact with them.

  I guess I mean: Don’t judge the entire bunch because one apple is rotten. Let’s just call a spade a spade, regardless of whom that spade is associated with.

  I like the help.com community. It’s a place where I can take a break (escape) from the life that surrounds me. The community is gradually changing day by day, so I don’t really want to get into details about the greater or worse things. It’s like real life, because it has real people, so I like to grow and adapt with it.
  
  The most prominent people on help.com for me - in a good way - are the ones on my friends list. Those are the faces/avatars I see when I log in. Those are the ones that mean the most to me.
  
  The people I think the community could do without, are the ones that purposely enter posts just to stir things up and mock others for their opinions. I’m not saying we should all just agree with everything. I believe we have to disagree and have discussions. There is however a thick red line between discussion and just being verbally abusive/obnoxious, and some people seem to be completely blind to that line. When discussions cross that line and turn into a battle of words where the victor is the one that manages to belittle the opponent the most, the site turns into a disgusting, unbearable place that only spreads hate among the users.
  
  Of course it’s right to be firm and stand your ground for what you truly believe in, but carefully considering how you go about it, and taking a look from the other persons perspective, is worth much more than just saying “you’re an idiot, and I’m right *sticks out tongue*”. After all, if everyone had the exact same thoughts and opinions, we’d still be in the stone-age.
  
  To help the help.com community to grow and better itself, I would like to suggest to everyone (including myself), to see people as people, and not as a nationality/religion/race/political unit. I know the acceptance/tolerance speech has started to sound redundant, but the only reason I bring it up is because people still don’t get it. I liked the line MittensInSummertime used for the invite saying “The people of help, come together!”. Lets try that at our best ability.
  
  The alternative to tolerance is stricter rules and clearer/harder definitions on deleting posts/replies and banning people, and I for one am much against that.
  
  Yeah, so back to the positive. I’ve met a lot of people on here during the 1 year and 8 months I’ve been a member of the site. I believe I’ve made a lot of friendships that - even though most of them won’t last a lifetime - I will always remember. If it wasn’t for the site, there would be a lot of friends I wouldn’t have made, and not having met them would have made me poorer than I am today (not money wise… I’m still poorer than dirt when it comes to the green).
  
  I might have a bit more to say about this later on, but for now, I think I’ve said what I wanted.

  You should try changing the way you think. You’re obviously having problems with a low view on yourself. When you walk into a room, you’re body language gives away a lot about who and how you are as a person. Negative thoughts about yourself tend to screw up the body language, making you come across as insecure/timid. What I find to be true is that people generally prefer being around people that feel good about who they are.
  
  What you need to do is find a way to brush off negative thinking and replace it with some ego. Everything you put into your mind - everything you convince yourself of - will shine through to the outside and affect your life, positive or negative.
  
  Now I’m no lifestyle specialist or anything, but I know a little trick that can help a bit. It might sound a bit silly, but try it out and see if it can’t make you feel a bit better.
  
  Close your eyes for a while and try to think of one of the things that makes you feel bad. When you’ve got a thought, try associating it with some place on the body (imagine where in the body you feel heavy when you think of this). Then in your mind, add a color to these lumps of negative thinking - a color you find fitting for this feeling. When you’ve got the color, you can start to see the shape of the feeling. Now move the colored lumps up behind your eyes. Hold your hands together, palms facing your eyes, open your eyes and make the feeling fly straight out into your hands until there’s nothing at all left behind your eyes. Imagine that you’re holding this ball of pain and negative feelings in your hand. Gently raise your hands a bit and blow the ball away. Take a clean deep breath through your mouth - all the way to your stomach - and breath out through your nose. You’ve just thrown away a feeling.
  
  This is on the very light side of self hypnosis. You can do it in any way you like. As long as you believe that it’s cleansing, it will have some effect.
  
  Now go get rid of some badness. And next time you enter a room, think to yourself: I’m cool, I am important, these people like me, I am perfect, these people would be lucky to have me as a friend.

• (3 votes) I’ve been having some issues with a “bully.”
  

  I would love to say that these are horrible friends, and that you should get help and all that. However, I don’t see it that way. I’ve learned through sometimes painful, sometimes funny experience that the best way to deal with bullying is to be harder, faster and smarter than them.
  
  You need to learn to stand up for yourself. You don’t have to do it physically, cause we all know that words are much more destructive than actions. I for one do not feel any moral obligation to not hurt someone that is trying to get me. Like if they make fun of your sexuality, make a pass at them… freak them out a bit. Everything they try to do to you, turn it around and make it about them. Don’t sulk… that means they win. You don’t have to be the “bigger person” when it comes to people like that. No fear. There’s nothing to fear with bullies. What’s the worst thing that can happen? Just think about that, and consider if the payoff of standing up against a bully justifies the possible consequences for you.
  
  I know some might say this is bad advise, but it’s a situation you have to deal with yourself. I like the idea of telling the teachers, but I don’t think that’s ever gonna solve anything. Besides, fencing off bullies is a skill you will need throughout your entire life. Bullies aren’t just confined to the schoolyard. You will meet these people everywhere throughout life. After graduation isn’t a “happily ever after” story.
  
  I suggest you get a survival kit (tips and tricks). You can’t rely on others as a lifeline all the time.
  
  I dunno… I hope I’m making some kind of sense here. I really hated school when I was a kid, until I leveled out the playing field. If you become a tricky target for bullies, you’ll get more peace, and you can even help others that are easily targeted.

  Thanks for the invite to the post. I however have now opinion when it comes to same sex marriages.
  
  Well, maybe I have a little to say though. I think it’s all in how you see “marriage”.
  
  If you see marriage as a holy reunion before your god(s), it’s really not up for public debate. It’s the decision of your spiritual leader(s) if they want same sex marriages as a part of their religion. Forcing a religion into accepting something they don’t want is not a victory, even if you win. It will just split religions and devite people into groups and cause more chaos and confusion. Ultimately I don’t think that’s a good idea.
  
  If you see marriage as a legal agreement between two living creatures, I really don’t care what you do. You can marry your cat, dog or even a broomstick for all I care… if that’s whom/what you want to call your life partner.
  
  So if you’re homosexual, and you want to be united in front of your god(s), I suggest you find a church/religion/sekt that supports those values. Don’t expect everyone else to change to suit you. It will never happen.

• Why do parents and other adults think that Teenagers dont have stress?
  

  It’s because we now know better. If you think life is stressful now, you’ve got a lot coming. Life does not get easier after high school. Yeah sure, you’re school worries go away, but you only trade your old problems with a set of new, more serious ones.
  
  Instead of school bullies, you’ll have to deal with incompetent co-workers and useless bosses. Instead of homework and assignment deadlines, you’ll either be working a dead end job for minimum wage, or clawing your way forward to claim a good job that hundreds of other people are competing with you to get.
  
  Socially it’s pretty much the same though. Depending on your personality/mentality, you still have the same worries and problems, only you might not be arsed to worry about it too much anymore, because you’ve been through that crap too many times before, and all the worries and problems are getting old.
  
  Financially you’ve got a serious problem. Can you afford the house, the car, the lifestyle that you really want? And how about supporting your family? Will you earn enough to settle down comfortably? Can you afford putting your children through a good education? And how about vacations?
  
  Sure, some teens have it genuinely rough (bad home and all that), but on average, things are a lot better for you than you realize.
  
  I’m sorry I can’t be all heartbroken over how stressful a teens existence is. And I’m truly sorry to tell you that things only get harder with age. The thing is, we’re not good at sympathizing, because: We’ve gone through that, we’ve developed the tools (mentality) to deal with it, we’re living in the “now” and can’t really turn back time in order to experience how our teen brains worked, we’re tired and have our own problems and therefor don’t feel like listening to your problems too much.
  
  Now do I think it’s wrong of you to complain? No, I’ve done the exact same thing. It’s all very natural. Although in general, I think we all spend too much time complaining and pointing fingers. I know I still do a bit of that myself… but maybe we should all just give it a rest. I mean, just accept life for what it is, and not worry about what others do, think or say.
  
  Anyway, I see I’m turning this into a rant, so I’ll stop here.
  
  Only one more thing. Dealing with stress (for all ages) is all about finding the right tools for the task. Those tools are personal, and you’ll find your own ways as life progresses (or not, and end up on anti depressants).
