  Lovely list Ditzy! Thanks guys for imput. Guess I’m curious to know what it is that makes other people get up in the morning. The strongest thing I can see so far is belonging and purpose. I guess I’m curious what form that takes for different people (thanks Linuxya)and wondering if I’d sent the txt that day maybe in fact my friends wouldn’t have replied because they wouldn’t have known. Bionic8 hope you enjoy any lists we get as well.

  What is it you hold dear? Peace of mind is the only real treasure. If forgiving the person their actions gives you that then you’ve already gained.
  
  You can only compromise yourself if you are pretending you’ve changed your view of the situation when you haven’t. You can forgive a person without saying the action was right. You can still keep an awareness of perhaps a difficulty or challenging behaviour they (or you both) have without holding it against them, thereby protecting yourself.
  
  Don’t set yourself up to test a person / situation and to prove that were right all along. You don’t have to compromise, CHOOSE. It’s just a question of preferences and much more powerful position. You are then taking responsiblity for your life and can’t be a victim.

• I Need Help Finding a Job!
  

  This may be an irritating reply but seeing as you sound like you’re running out of steam it may be at the right moment and my intention is to help you as you have asked to get back in action. You say you have been ‘aggressively’ pursuing work for the last 2 years or so. While admirable this approach obviously isn’t working. And while I understand the need to be proactive and self motivated in such an industry (I’ve worked in the buis) it’s time to change tact. Their boxes don’t fit you. This will require your affirmed ability to think outside YOUR OWN BOX.
  
  1. Stop.
  
  2. Yes you need money to live but all your running around hasn’t produced that either. Acknowledge that there has to be a better way!
  
  3. Accept that you don’t know what it is but are WILLING to find out.
  
  4. Sit still (yes I know) Turn off all media for one week. No reading anything (you can go on line again in a few days to see the other useful tipps.) You may check your email once a day. (Remember you could be on location in Timbuctu for all the rest of the world knows!)
  
  5. Make an appointment to do something enjoyable with a friend (non industry related if possible)on the night of the last day. Something humanly interactive and cheap that doesn’t necessarily involve alcahol. Perhaps something you would never normally do, something childlike even!
  
  6. You are going to find a huge store of emotions welling up. Be brave! Get out a large note pad and HAND write your stream of consciousness every morning the second you wake. At least three pages… It’s ok if the first two say I hate doing this, but you must fill every line, don’t censor. Then fold them over don’t re-read. Repeat every morning.
  
  7. By now you will feel a growing momentum, frustration, jiggy energy… It’s like the dt’s! WALK. Any where but preferably in green spaces, parks, woods along rivers. Go for distance over speed and make it a circuit / journey not a to and from. Depending on commitments it’s good to go also in the morning so that the energy becomes harnessed for the remainder of the day. Focus on what you see around you, steer your thoughts away from your usual concerns everytime they wander.
  
  8. Get more (seperate) paper. Write out a detailed description of the life / career you would like. Pay attention to how you would feel in every aspect. Don’t just say major studio producer or whatever, it’s your normal day I want you to write. What time of the day do you like to get up? What kind of people do you work with? (not names, descriptions of types of humans) What is the envirnoment you work in like? Team, Solo, combo? Who is in your life? How does home fit into the bigger picture? With whom do you spend your time? Where do you live what do you eat? What’s fun? Where do you go on holidays? How do you relax? Write your desired life. But try and be very honest. Nobody has to see this. Your new gut will tell you if perhaps it doesn’t fit or needs to be refined.
  
  9. Refine this over the next few days. Then type it and colour little images around it or colage images that are elements of this life on another page. Look at it often (ideally if you have privacy put it on the wall). As the week progresses you will discover things about yourself and what you really want and now need that you never knew. Two years is a long time. They will help you define your direction and identify new goals short and long term. Identify the parts you can put into play straight away. The time you get up in the morning, the avant garde films you watch. Live your life NOW. The rest will follow and fit because there is space for the right stuf and nature abhores a vacum.
  
  10. Be open to… everything! Accept the interesting ideas and proposals that come to you, and they will.
  
  Look into local community colleges who may need people to teach courses in areas you have worked in. Share your knowledge, this will renew your passion. Night courses can be short. Commit to something, anything bigger than yourself. Become involved again, in community, in working relationships. Employers wouls ALWAYS rather see you were working at something, even in an aparently unrelated field. Unemployment is so isolating and we loose our peer group because we feel a loss of contribution, verbally, financially and wonder what our own value is. Renew and discover what your own value is. If you’re embarassed by where these unusual short term jobs (circus, garden centre, homless shelter)may take you, tell your friends it’s research for a movie!
  
  And it will be… the script of your new life. ‘What Tchen did next!’
  
  Try and keep up the writing and the walking (don’t read the pages for 6 weeks)I know it’s not an obviously logical thing to do but it worked for me, good luck.
