  Any religion has two levels. The distilled philosophical version and then the popular one that is put into practice without much thought. ALL religions can be twisted and used to manipulate and control people. As well as to justify greed and violence. I’m not very familiar with christianity, but it seems like this happens with it as it does with other religions. The argument here seems to be happening because everyone involved is only looking at different sides of the religion.

  I think it depends on how the request is made and why.
  Examples:
  
  “You look so hot when you wear ___” versus “I’m not going to be able to love you as much if you don’t wear ___”
  
  The way OP’s boyfriend did it was the latter, which is manipulative and cruel. I doubt it had much to do with her appearance other than an effort to control her.
  
  My partner and I do the former occasionally. He always dresses professionally and I told him recently that it would be a huge turn on to see him in jeans. I just said it once, as kind of a passing comment. Last weekend we went out to eat and he surprised me by wearing jeans (which he had to go purchase, since he owned none), I was thrilled (I mean, I’ve been with him 6 years and no jeans ever lol). I think if I had phrased it “I’m not attracted to you anymore, but I think I would be if you wore jeans for me.” That would be controlling and crazy (and he’d never have worn the jeans). But I’m happy with him as he is, I just thought jeans would be hot. Variety I guess.

  My take on this, is that this employer needs to work on his business tactics. Who in their right mind would pay $200 for an intoxicated person to do one hour worth of manual labor? With judgement like that, the employer will soon be standing on a corner looking for work himself.

  2040. As non-christian, bisexual woman of mixed race I can only imagine how unpleasant 1940 would have been. I would much rather live in a time that has had some progress in civil rights. Hopefully by 2040 it will be even better. Maybe other countries were better, but anyone other than a straight, white, protestant, non-German, male wouldn’t have been too well off in 1940 in the USA.

  Yeah, I wish it was true though. I’ve been a vegan for like ever and am about 20 lbs overweight. It’d be nice if eating a plant based diet just made it all melt off, lol. Unfortunately there are things like avocados and peanut butter and coconut milk.

  Pick on them back. They usually only pick on people that won’t come back at them. What will usually happen if you do this is they will either a) leave you alone in the future, or b) appreciate the banter and morph into some type of acquaintance/friend.
