Even the wayward old help users can appreciate this post. This site was here when I needed it and here when I was just here to talk to the friends I had made, and it is here now as I drop by just to check in after being gone for a long while. I appreciate what it was for me and sad that it wasn’t what it could have been, but still grateful for the friends I made a long the way. Thanks for the post Tricky.

I was just about to get offline, so I really don’t have time to reply in detail, I will reply farther later.
I do want to say that of course I think that everyone has a right to state their opinion and I enjoy having conversations with others that can bring different perspectives, that is one of the things that makes our Country great.
I felt that your last line in your previous comment was a sarcastic way of insulting my intelligence, I apologize if I misuderstood.
I didn’t personally write either of the stories I posted and of course you are aware that David R. Kamerschen PHD wrote “Bar Stool Economcis, but I did think that the simplistic tone of them would get my point across.
Regardless, I really need to get going and will reply to your last comments if possible before the election.
2008-10-31 12:48:06 on The brink of economic depression.
Sans, I had no idea you were so troubled, I should have picked up on that and I am very sorry that I didn’t, I suppose my faith in you blinded me to clues that should have alerted me and I’m sorry for that, but I do have faith in you and that beautiful common sense that you have and I know that even if you are going through a rough patch you will overcome it because of who you are.
2008-10-31 12:28:35 on What is wrong with socialism?
Elements of socialism, I think, are necessary. You could argue that having a police force is socialism. That fire departments are socialism. We must have socialist functions to protect the rights of the people. If we determine that health is a basic human right, then socialized health care would be necessary.
However, when it comes to places where efficiency is required, I think socialism is very bad. Socialism in business decreases competition, and therefore decreases efficiency and discourages excellence and advancement. Research would come to a standstill.
That is my short answer. My long answer is longer.
I believe that there is a difference between social work and socialism, I believe that Fire departments and the like are not socialist, but rather social works.
I agree with Adam that socialism decreases competition, efficiency and discourages excellence and advancement. Also based on history true socialism doesn’t work, it’s one of those things that sounds good on paper, it just doesn’t work in practice, especially in the area of Government.
When a Government has control of a nations finances to acheive “fairness”, balance of power is shifted from citizen control to Government control.
More Government control leads corruption and also leads to restriction of Rights in other areas such as Military control of citizens by its Government as has been shown in History of Socialist Governments.
Which in this election should be a concern, because of Obama’s gun voting record, the NRA gives him an F rating on Gun rights and they are concerned that if elected our Right to Bear Arms will be in jeopardy.
2008-10-31 11:58:20 on Which president are you voting for……….John McCain……..or Barack Obama……….and why?
McCain, because I believe that he has the experiance and the bi-partisan advantage that will help work out solutions that will benefit our Country, plus his Military background gives him the edge in fighting the two wars we are involved in, of course those are just a few of my reasons, I have many reasons to vote for McCain.
2008-10-31 11:49:30 on Bar Stool Economics
I never clamed to be a PHD, but I do have a little common sense and know a little bit about balancing a budget and I don’t do that by taking money that my family hasn’t earned.
Regarding Palin, she did her job and looked after her her State, she also balanced the Alaskan budget.
McCain has been endorsed by many educated people, but it seems that gets left out of the “news”, more importantly than that it is my belief that McCain will be able to work with bi-partisan council to acheive a balanced economy.
My little bit of common sense told me when you came onto this site that you seemed like a fair person and I thought people should step off your back a bit and I haven’t talked to you a great deal, but I think for the most part I’ve tried to be supportive of your efforts here, but now I just have to say.
I know you are the Admin here and you could ban me without explanation, but I am bothered by the tone of your comments, forgive me if I took them wrong, but it appears that you are insulting me personally.
2008-10-31 11:29:14 on Anti OBAMA emails—
Oh come on Florie, there have been investigations all over the Country and NOT just partisian investigations.
You know what I’m an independent, I don’t believe every single thing that comes out of the GOP, so why is it that you seem to believe every single thing that comes from the left.
You can’t always believe partisians, they telling you what they want you to hear and believe.
2008-10-31 11:19:41 on Obama’s questionable ties and why are they relevant?
Lighten up Florie…geez…I said that it wasn’t related to Obama, BUT there have been people trying to get their hands on this book for quite a long awhile so this has nothing to do with some obsene timing.
2008-10-31 11:14:27 on The Truth About ACORN’s Voter Registration Drive
Sorry Florie, but factcheck.org is no longer bi-partisan so therefore no longer a reliable source, they were bought by liberals.
2008-10-31 11:11:16 on Anti OBAMA emails—
I agree teachers are people to and they are within their right to voice their opinions to other adults, but it is their job to educate, not shape children with their own political views, that I have a problem with and is why prayer in school is not allowed.
I already said I think some of this has been silly, campaign buttons go way back in our history and I just don’t think it should be a big deal, if somebody is going to go vote I don’t care what button they are wearing, but I don’t think telling people they can’t is voter indimidation.
I was referring to the Voter registration drive by ACORN that has been fraudelant, also there have been Dems in swing states that have voted in Ohio even though they reside elsewhere, a Dem partisian group and that it is more than just typo’s, but you can google it all if you want, it’s been going on for months. Of course I’m not totally blind or stupid, there are problems on both sides, our voting system is flawed in general and it’s all Americans that suffer from it.
Seriously at the end of the day most of us are just citizens, we are just regular people, just regular Americans, not Democrats, Republicans or Independents, just Americans that want a fair and honest election.
2008-10-31 10:57:00 on US Elections + Financial / Banking Crisis :: Is Fear the Republican Election Strategy 2008 — at ALL COSTS?
I agree that the best strategy wins the game, but that doesn’t mean that the candidate with the best campaign will make the best President…Bush is without a doubt an example of that.
I also don’t agree that McCain’s campaign hasn’t been bright, financially out matched (though they have managed to work around that quite a bit) and derailed by the economic crisis, but I’ve seen some brilliance in the campaign along the way and I’ve followed both campaigns since the Primaries.
I have no idea what being captured in War time has to do with the kind of leader he would make, I would think his military experiance would be the most helful considering we are in the middle of two wars, but that being said brightness had nothing to do with his capture, his capture was due to his plane going down and him being injured during the crash.
An interesting side note to his POW history, the commadant of the POW camp that he was in endorsed him for President, he said because he respects McCain and he also credits McCain for teaching him English, of course he’s still a Communist and still denies that POW’s were tortured.
2008-10-31 10:46:49 on I’m sorry, but the user ĐaNi HaŦeS ŸoŪ has closed this post, for further inquiry leave a shout for ..
lol guess I’ve been a little to serious lately and missed the humor.
2008-10-31 10:42:32 on I have a question about Obama!
Now wait Xeno, I have to say that’s not completely true, geez I actually hate defending Bush because I don’t like him, but his tax plan did help my family, the child tax credit was very helpful and we aren’t rich people. We were close to getting ahead finally after years of hard work, but if Obama’s elected I think it’s going to be more difficult.
My father in law passed away in January and we’ve been trying to settle the estate, but it doesn’t look like we will be able to until next year. Obama’s tax plan calls for reinstating the inheritance tax that Bush ended and with the Democratic controlled congress the Obama tax plan will probably go through, which basically sucks for my family.
