  Losers, who find it necessary to exploit the good intentions of others for their own amusement have infested the population since the beginning of time. It’s a reality we can do little about, other than remain cautious and keep our heads up.
  We don’t know whether or not that was the case here, and we may never know. Megan’s defensive position here is admirable. A defender for those who may not have the mettle to defend themselves. Don’t change your motivation, but don’t put on blinders either.

  None of us posting here really have any clue. You’re the one in the situation and everyone’s situation is different. Of course he’s distant, he’s having a child with another woman. Things will never be what they were. As objectively as possible, ask yourself:
  What were the reasons you broke up in the first place?
  Are the reasons personality related?
  
  The intensity of your current emotional strife will eventually fade with time.
  
  Grieve for what you had that ended.
  
  You’re either in a new phase of the relationship, or you need to move on.
