The twelve step program is not just to help get you off of drugs. It is a spiritual kick start. It is a spiritual program that will bring you the peace of mind that you are searching for. When the mind is at peace and the spiritual need is taken care of, everything will fall into place. The reason that I recommend AA, I have found through my personal experience that the AA programm is more spiritual and less negative. Even though I was mostly a drug addict. My old sponser would always tell me “focus on the spiritual growth, the rest will fall into place”. He was right. AA is the building blocks that you are searching for. I am laughing outloud to myself right now, because I just realized how I was thinking, ” I wish I could grab this person and set them into the AA program. I would not mislead you, I have nothing to gain. No AA commission check is ever mailed to me. I just know that this would help you tremendiously (SP). Just go to 5 meetings a week for two weeks with an OPEN MIND and see what you think. The only thing you have to loose is one hour of your life times ten meetings. Get enrolled with a sponser and into the 12 steps. You will NOT regret it. I work with people a lot online and via phone. They tell me the problem. And I have the answer. But when I try to get them into the 12 steps, I am always met with resistance. I used to get so frustrated. Now, I dont get frustrated so much. After all, I resisted it for years until my struggles were so great, I figured, WHat do I have to lose. It is humblinmg to ask for help. It is easy to ask online, but harder to take the steps and then ask in person. WHat city and state do you live in? I will send you a link to the meeting list in your area. Trust me on this one. Take a leap of faith here. Best wishes

P.S. Clean and recovery are two different things. Clean means no drugs. Recovery means treating the disease. Clean without recovery can be more miserable than using. The disease manifests in the subconcoius part of the mind. You cannot fight that battle and win. But you can treat the area and come out of it stronger than you ever were. Clean and still being on maintenance meds is not a whole lot different than using, as far as the addiction goes. The consequences may be less, but the addiction still manifests. That is what I was always told, and I didn’t believe it until I lived it. I will never mislead you, but I cannot stress the importance of this disease. It will destroy. It is progressive. It is very deceitful and cunning.

People who are using and still ( appear ) to have everything….Thier time is coming. Addiction always wins. Why haven’t you been through a twelve step program? This is what is missing. I am not being judgmental. I struggled for years to get myself into a 12 step program and actually work the steps with a sponser. Once I did, my life changed dramaticaly. Suboxone and/or Methadone is still a drug and only treats the symptoms. The problem is the mental disease of addiction. Please tell me that it isn’t methadone. That stuff is horrible. I used to be on Maintenance meds. The addictionologist always told me that I had to get away from all of them. I didn’t listen and ended back on drugs. Then I went to a treatmant facility because by then, addiction had full control of me. The doctors there had me off of opiates and off of suboxone in two weeks. Sure, I was on Wellbutrin for 6 months until I was far enough along in the 12 step program to handle life on my own. I lost my wife, job and almost my family. i ended up in a treatment center in TN. Then I stayed in Tn and lived in a hotel for a month while working in a factory. It has only been 5 years ago. I now have a new truck, a new wife, a new house, A new business, and most importantly a new mind that is at peace and makes great decisions that leads to great outcomes. If you really want to get back what you used to have, you must first quit thinking about what you used t have. Get out of the past. You can’t be present when you are in the past. There is a saying. If you have one foot in the past and one foot in tomorrow, you are in a great position to poo on today. The past is history, the future is a mystery. All we have is this moment, it is a gift that is why we call it the present. Again, I am not judging you. Because I have been where you are, I can see that you are not in a good place. You are at that tilting point. Like a rock balancing on a mountain top. Teetering back and forth. The question is which way are you going to teeter? I will help you get involved with a 12 step support group. I will help you with any questions. I will help in any way that I can. But you have to take the initiative. You have to put in the footwork. Please stop worrying what others have or dont have. This is your life. Stay focused on you. If you COMMIT to a 12 step program, I promise you that you will never regret it. It is a life changer.

I was raised in a strict religous family. God was always explained as a loving God who is vengeful and a jealous God. A God that is compassionate but would get yu if you did something wrong. These are contrdictary. Can’t be compassionate and vengful. ETC. I have read many spiritual books. Seeking the truth. The books by Emmit Fox (Christian/metaphysical) put a meaning to the biblical scriptures that rang so true with me. While I follow a lot of what the bible says, I don’t adhere to thier religion. I follow my heart and spirit to be my guide. I use prayer and meditation to show me the way. I think that in religion, the meaning gets lost. Emmit Fox put the meaning in such a perspective, that I could see it and apply it. Eckart Tolle is great as well. I am shy to share sometimes because people often like to ridicule. As you can imagine, I get a lot of backlash from my family and old acquaintences. I avoided your question to avoid any “I am right you are wrong” scenarios. This is my belief and this serves me well. It works for me. I respect all people and thier beliefs.
