  Depends on the guy. Nice normal ones like someone who makes them feel good, who makes them laugh and who is laid back and easy going. And yes, if you’re good looking it helps too but it’s not as important as people make out. Is there someone specific you have in mind?

  You have to let it go. You’re entitled to feel hurt, it’s not as if you can help it, but if I were you I’d try and get over it on my own. He probably likes all the attention, and this looks like a safe way for him to make the most of his looks and enjoy being flirted with, while having a steady girlfriend whom he loves at the same time. What’s really bothering you? Do you just feel possessive over him, or do you think he might cheat on you? It’s not really his fault if girls are all over him. It’s easy to fall into the trap of being overprotective when you see this happening, but you’ll end up winding yourself up about it when there’s probably nothing to worry about. My boyfriend has a lot of female friends, some of whom are very flirty with him, and he seemed not to be bothered about how it looked. Eventually I realised that it was me with the problem, and the reason why he was so blase about it was that he had nothing to hide.

  It would be much easier, cheaper and less painful if you learned to love what you were born with. When you’re older, you probably will change your mind because you’ll be spending time with adults who are (mostly) far less superficial than teenagers. Everyone has a hard time at school because kids make fun of everything! There was a boy in my class who had the biggest ears I have ever seen but he was one of the most popular kids in school because he had a great personality. Don’t focus on what you perceive to be a bad quality about yourself and instead make a list of your good points. If you act confident then people will soon see there’s no use in teasing you.

  I think all you can do is stand by her and wait this one out. It sounds like she’s had enough experience of this guy hanging around to be able to deal with it herself - she probably doesn’t want to worry you so feels like so should keep quiet about some things. Let her know you’re there to help and protect her if he gets too intense. You’re right to think that it will make things difficult for your relationship if you don’t get over this, and I’m sure you don’t want her to think you don’t trust her.
  You obviously care about this girl and both of you want this to last, so try and come up with things for you to do as a couple that will take both of your minds off this problem. Maybe organise a trip away somewhere, so she can focus on her future with you rather than her past with this guy.
