  Yes a very good point,but as I have already stated I make no money for my self out of this as all the profit goes back into running the night,I fund this out of my own money. So example I put on a night and charge £5 entry 3 bands +PA + security= £350 cost. I get 100 people in and make £500 on the door total profit is £150.That goes towards the next night.As I pay for everything before hand the £350 goes back into my own account so I havent lost any money(profit dosent happen very often)I havent factored in how much advertising costs,or how much time I spend promoting the events,talking to bands and managers.
  The council dont care about the community so thats a no go before I start,They wouldn’t even help out on the carnival.
  I know it’s my place to promote the events but it would be nice to get some help.
  If we dont support live music then bands will just give up and we wont have anything to listen to or watch because all the bands will have gone.just a thought.
  Now some of you may think thats ok,but to me that would be a nightmare I love music and I love live bands,this is why I do this.Thanks for your input some good advice some negative but thank you anyway.But I would rather try and fail than not bother and wonder for the rest of my life what if,that would drive me crazy.

  Yes been to local shops,some are ok with advertising for me but dont want to part with money.I can get the local bands to play free and I can get 2 big bands for under £1500.The rest would go on security and the PA,Local council dont give a dam about local issuse or events,they wont even help with the carnival.
  Anyway thanks for the help and advice I will continue to strive for funding of some sort.

  Thanks for the reply’s.
  First of all Metal has a huge following and in this town we have around 7000 students, over half of them love metal.
  Secondly Dr Jackson £2000 would help pay for bigger bands so getting more people in,in theory.It also gives local bands the exposure they need.
  And the Jolly roger is a pirate flag,often associated with Metal.Well it is to those who love the music,also it is a simple design that I can put on T shirts for next to nothing.In other news Bangor also has a history as a pirate town so there is a link,Also I like it,So thats why I have it.And Im not a band Im a promoter.
  A 1 day Event sounds like a plan, start off small and work up.
  I have been going 1 year and have worked with many bands all of whom want paying I also have to pay the PA and sound guy and the security,Thats a deal I have with the venue.All the money I make goes towards running the events so I make no cash myself.
