its wonderful that u took such an extended period of time out to disagree with me, but it might have helped if u looked at the above question first. this person did not ask what fight or flight was, this person asked the effect of HOMEOSTASIS.

im a nursing major and ive taken 2 years of biology, chemistry and anatomy and physiology, including human growth and development. i’m guessing u are asking the question for homework, and u dont want to find the answer yourself, but whatever.

when the body is in fight or flight mode, it has to adjust itself in order to survive. take for example, hurricane katrina: people went without water, food, clean living conditions and other horrible atrocities for an extended period of time. the body does not have a NATURAL defense mechanism for dealing with something on such a large scale basis, so instead of completely breaking down, it had to make a choice of what to do so the body could still function and sustain. u heard of all the people breaking into stores stealing stupid things like purses and t.v’s and what not? it wasnt because they were petty or stupid, it was because after being exposed to those conditions for so long, the frontal lobe of the brain started to break down. it was the first thing to go. the frontal lobe controls all our HUMAN behavior. being polite, saying please, stopping at a red light. that is all controlled by the frontal lobe, and when the body had taken all it could, fight or flight set in and the frontal lobe started to dissapate so that the other organs wouldnt. it was “expendable” to say.

u need to respect your body!! remove yourself from this situation and move on to something better. men can be pigs. we know it and they know it. we have to learn to co-exist peacefully with them and sex does NOT have to be the answer to that! the more self control you show now, the better off you will be later in life. u should be proud of yourself, u are doing something that most of us as young women were unable to do for whatever reason, and that is say “NO”. they wont let up because they think you will back down. dont give them that satisfaction. stand your ground and tomorrow u will be glad u did.

being gay is not a lifestyle. its who u are. u cant change your sexuality anymore than i can change the color of my skin.

if u are struggling with this, and seriously want to take a step towards becoming something that is unfamiliar to you, then that is your choice. but let it be for the right reasons and on YOUR terms, not because it makes highschool difficult to cope with.

there are programs out there which CLAIM to turn a gay man straight. i wouldnt personally know how that works or if its even possible. to me it sounds a bit like trying to tell a human that having sex with other humans is WRONG and DIRTY and then brainwashing them to believe sex with animals is best. it sounds pretty rediculous huh?

nainachick couldnt have said it any better tho. THANK GOD HIGHSCHOOL ENDS. theres a big bright world out there full of gay men. the world is not limited to your highschool, and neither should your options be.

he’s upset that i would do something this “selfish” he says we dont have the money, but its coming out of my personal finances. but he still feels i’m being over zealous and that altho i’ve waited 7 years, i should continue waiting until we have the money.
