Yup, I did the same thing. Through one I successfully opted out of 99 companies, through the other I opted out of 116 out of 117. So I did it again and selected just the one that didn’t work. It still wouldn’t opt me out. Their website says that they investigate all failures promptly and quickly resolve any issues, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to follow up with them, or contact a real person in any way. They do have help forums though. I guess I’ll just try it whenever I log in and see if eventually I can opt out of that last one. I haven’t seen the sidebar yet. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Yeah, I’ve been getting that annoying thing that pops up on the right hand side when you are scrolling through a thread. And the whole site is dismally slow, I don’t remember it being like that 6 years ago when I was first here. I just figured it was because the site gets more traffic now, but then I noticed someone else said the site has been slow and buggy for them since the new ads showed up. So, I’m going to keep playing with it. There is one service it can’t unsubscribe me from, I don’t remember which one. I’ll keep playing.

When I first came here I was under the impression that some of the mods were biased, but I hardly think so anymore or at least I don’t care about the ways they might be. I think they just try to do the right thing.

Well I’ve been around, but I suppose I’ve been a little quieter. Haha I generally move on when I see your lovely long responses to people, I figure they’d probably be well looked after with you. You seem very good at helping with things I have no idea about.
I definitely understand about saying things to understand and hear them yourself. Sometimes it might be exactly what someone else needs or sometimes it may not, good thing there are so many people all doing the same thing.

about the recent incident, it might be an honest mistake. i know how tedious it is to scrub the whole site to decide which one is right and which one is duplicate.

but i seriously see the need for rudeness and sarcasm to stop. it can cause a negative impact and it’s dangerous doing that here. the behavior is starting to spread like wildfire.

There are hundreds of suicide posts on this site. I posted that link because there was someone who had just posted they were on the verge of killing themselves. As passionate as you were about the person you posted about, I figured you’d like to know about them too, but, not just you. That wasn’t directed just to you.

You’re right. It’s nearly impossible to reply to every person. That goes for the rest of us, too. It’s a really sad situation all around. Lots of fires but not enough fire fighters.
